Laverna A. Burg, 98, of New Holstein died Sunday morning January 17, 2010 at the Homestead Care Center in New Holstein. The former Laverna Heller was born November 22, 1911 in the Town of Brothertown to the late Albert & Helen Jacky Heller. On August 28, 1929 she married Ervin Burg at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Malone; he preceded her in death on October 8, 1998. The couple farmed in the Town of Calumet prior to moving to New Holstein. Laverna was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in New Holstein, the Calumet Homemakers and Modern Woodmen. Survivors include her 2 children, Dolores (Marvin) Buechel of Chilton and Delmar (Donna) Burg of New Holstein; 6 grandchildren, Gary (Mary) Buechel, Barbara (Larry) Joas, Ron Burg, Laurie Collin, Karen (John) Vanderwall and Sandy (Dave) Friess; 4 great-grandchildren, Sherry (Chris) Ecker, Nicholas (Monica) Buechel, Jesse (Andrea) Buechel and Kyle Joas and his friend, Christy; 3 great-great-grandchildren, Devin, Myles and Amelia and her sister-in-law, Alice Heller of Chilton. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Ervin Burg; a son, Gerald Burg; a daughter-in-law, Louise; a sister, Phyllis; her brother, Denver Heller and a brother-in-law and his wife, Chester (Adell) Burg. Funeral Services will be held at 6:00 PM on Wednesday January 20, 2010 at the Sippel Funeral Home 2618 Altona Ave. New Holstein. Rev. James E. Werner will officiate. Burial will be in the Rothmann Cemetery in the Town of Calumet. Family and friends may call at the Sippel Funeral Home on Wednesday from 3:30 PM until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in her name.
