Obituary

Lawrence J. "Larry" Mueller, age 75, of Mount Calvary, passed away, following a courageous battle with cancer, on Saturday, December 27, 2014, at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac. He was born January 16, 1939, to the late Arthur & Loraine (Fuhrmann) Mueller. Larry graduated from New Holstein High School in 1958. He served in the Army, mostly in Alaska, from 1962 to 1964. On June 17, 1961, he married Gladys Olig at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mount Calvary. After graduation, Larry began working at Gilson Bros. in Plymouth for 11 years. He then began to learn his construction trade by working with Alois Blonigen and subsequently with Rosenthal Construction. He was a proud local union member working with Minnesota Limited for a few years, but mostly with C.D. Smith Construction until his retirement. He was a member of St. Isidore Parish-Holy Cross Church in Mount Calvary, Mount Calvary American Legion Abler-Engel Post 454, and the Fond du Lac Knights of Columbus. Larry served on the Mount Calvary Athletic Club board and coached many years, a lot of them for his children's teams. His pride and joy was to go watch his children and grandchildren play in their sports activities. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, bird watching, and making trips to area casinos. Larry is survived by his wife, Gladys: four children, Dan (Lisa) Mueller of Fond du Lac, Julie Mueller (Joni) of Madison, Jodi (Steve) Ottery of rural Glenbeulah, and Jill (Mike) Feldner of St. Cloud; nine grandchildren, Zachary (girl friend, Jessica), Cassandra & Samantha Mueller, Ali, Brennen, Collin & Destiny Ottery, and Eric & Abigail Feldner; his brothers and sister, Bob (Karen) Mueller of Fond du Lac, Don (Kathie) Mueller of Appleton, Gene (Linda) Mueller of St. Cloud and Linda (Herman) Timm of New Holstein. He is further survived by his in-laws, Roger Olig (Karen), Jim Olig, Bill Olig (Ruth), Jerry Olig (Rosie), Mary Ann Goebel (Jim), Betty Petrie (Ron), Patty Connery (Jerry); many nieces; nephews; other relatives; and many friends. Preceding Larry in death were his parents, Arthur & Loraine Mueller; an infant brother, John; and his father-in-law & mother-in-law, Elmer & Teckla Olig. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, December 30, 2014, at St. Isidore Parish-Holy Cross Church, 308 County Road W Mount Calvary, WI 53057. Rev. Gary Wegner OFM Cap will officiate. Military Honors conducted by Mount Calvary American Legion Abler-Engel Post 454, will take place at the church following the mass. Entombment will be at the Shrine of Rest Chapel Mausoleum in Fond du Lac. Family and friends may call at the church Tuesday, December 30th from 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for Central Wisconsin Cancer Program Center in Fond du Lac.
