Leonard J. Ausloos, 82, of W9218 County Road C Glenbeulah, WI died peacefully Thursday, April 21, 2011 at the Hospice Home of Hope in Fond du Lac. Leonard had a year long illness resulting from a brain tumor. He was born on August 28, 1928 in St. Anna to the late John & Eleanor (Gross) Ausloos. He graduated from Kiel High School in 1946. On April 24, 1954, he married Norma Diedrich at St. Cloud Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Leonard owned and operated Ausloos Fur Farm, 1st in St. Anna then near St. Cloud. He will long be remembered for his self sacrificing and hard work on his mink ranch which he owned and operated for 46 years until his retirement in 2001. He also owned and operated Len's Last Resort in Elkhart Lake in the early 1970's. In the mid 1970's he owned and operated Chilton Concrete Products. Leonard worked hard but he also knew how to play and have fun. He was instrumental in organizing the St. Ann Trail Blazers Snowmobile Club, the St. Ann Athletic Club, and the formation of the St. Ann A's baseball team. He was an avid fan and participant of football, basketball, and baseball. He continued to play softball well into his 60's. He enjoyed escapes into his woodlands where he would pleasure walk or ride his four-wheeler. In addition to hunting and snowmobiling in the outdoors, he enjoyed bowling. Most of all, Leonard's humor will long remain with everybody that had the opportunity to know him. He was a member of St. Isidore Parish St. Cloud Church, a member of the Kettle Moraine Mink Breeders Association, A charter member of the Kiel Knights of Columbus and a member of the St. Anna Branch Catholic Knights. In addition to his wife, Norma, he is survived by 10 children, 22 grandchildren, four step grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. They include Judy Rogind and her daughter, Jenna of West Bloomfield, MI, Jeff Ausloos and his sons, Matthew and Michael of Chilton, Sue (Ken) Stroede and their children, Jamie (Allan) Gill, Sarah, and Shane of Beaver Dam, Nancy Ausloos (Steve Blaha) of Oshkosh, Gary (Marge) Ausloos and their children, James, Meagan, and Trace of Plymouth, Lisa (Steve) Gross and their children, Chad, Erin, Emma, and Cora of Elkhart Lake, Mary Jane (Kim) Knepfel and their children, Lukas (Melissa), Corey, Tye, Sydney, and Lindsey of Oshkosh, Patrick Ausloos and his children, Ryan and Brittney of Sheboygan, Peter (Jen) Ausloos and their children, Stewart, Maddie, Drew, and Grace of Mequon and Paul (Jamie) Ausloos of Elkhart Lake. The three great-grandchildren are Lilly and Hannah Gill and Caiden Knepfel. Leonard is further survived by one brother, Glenroy (Karen) Ausloos of Newton, WI; his three sisters, Delores (Harry) Gehrig of Oklahoma City, Gladys Feuling of San Diego, CA and Marlyn Bergholz of Appleton; for brothers-in-law, Dr. Fred Copes of Plover, Alfred Diedrich and Joe (Peggy) Diedrich both of Fond du Lac, and Mark Diedrich of Green Bay; four sisters-in-law, Lorraine (Robert) Kohlman of St. Cloud, Verna (Richard) Bechard of New London, Kate (Eugene) Barr of Fond du Lac and Mary (Harold) Hellman of St. Cloud and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John & Eleanor Ausloss; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Alfred & Emma Diedrich; a brother, Orville (Marilyn) Ausloos; a sister, Jan Copes; two brothers-in-law, John (Marilyn) Diedrich and Nate Bergholz and a sister-in-law, Karen Diedrich. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at St. Isidore Parish St. Cloud Church 924 Main Street in St. Cloud. Rev. Steven Kropp OFM Cap. will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Cloud Catholic Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the Sippel Funeral Home 1311 Thorp Street in St.Cloud on Monday, April 25th from 4-8 PM and again at the funeral home Tuesday morning from 9:00 – 10:30 AM when brief family rites will be held at the funeral home. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home Monday evening at 7:45 PM. Now we must say our final good-byes to you Leonard. As wife, son, and daughter, we were glad to be part of your team in good health and in bad. We will always love and remember you. Now go off and find your heavenly field of dreams.
