Leonard "Butch" A. Rosenbaum, 86, of rural St. Cloud died Thursday, February 10, 2011, at the Villa Loretto Nursing Home in Mount Calvary. He was born January 2, 1925 to the late Arthur and Ruth Keys Rosenbaum. Butch served as part of the Sea Bees in the Navy, stationed in Guam, during World War II from 1944-1946. On May 15, 1948, he married Alice Poch at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in the Town of Forest. Alice preceded him in death on March 26, 1997. Following serving in the Navy, Butch first farmed in the Town of Empire. After his marriage, he and his wife farmed in the Town of Greenbush and in 1968 he and his family moved to their farm in the Town of Forest. Butch served in several civic leadership capacities. He served as Town of Forest Chairman from 1975-1995, Fond du Lac County Supervisor for 30 years, served on the University of Wisconsin-Fond du Lac Extension board for 20 years, and served on the state and local Soil & Conservation boards. He was a 63 year member of the St. Cloud American Legion Harvey Blonigen Post 478 and a member of the Empire Threshing Association. In his retirement, Butch was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, sturgeon spearing, turkey hunting and playing cards. He was extremely proud of and truly enjoyed his grandchildren. His survivors include his son, Ron (Kathy) Rosenbaum of St. Cloud; his four daughters, Bonnie (Roger) Schuler of St. Germain, Betty Seboe of New Berlin, Suzy (Joe) Schmitz of St. Cloud and Connie Weiland and her friend Carl Ketter of Campbellsport; Butch's friend for the past 12 years, Carol Kolpin; 10 grandchildren, Stacy Rosenbaum, Dustin Rosenbaum, Tracy Stauber, Kim Radder, Sara Seboe, Beth Pawlowski, Jon Seboe, Amy Schimtz, Cody Weiland and Christopher Weiland; seven great-grandchildren; his brother, Harold (Shirley) Rosenbaum of Hartford; his sister, Lorraine "Sue" Kassick of Fond du Lac and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Alice; three brothers, Paul, Myron, and Jack Rosenbaum and two sisters, June Christian and Dorothy Wehner. Family and friends may call at the Sippel Funeral Home 1311 Thorp Street in St. Cloud on Sunday, February 13, 2011 from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM. Private family services will follow. Burial with Military Rites conducted by the St. Cloud American Legion Harvey Blonigen Post 478 will take place in the Lyons Forest Home Cemetery in the Town of Forest In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Villa Loretto Nursing Home in Mount Calvary.
