Obituary

Leroy R. Sippel, age 94, of St. Cloud, passed away Monday, October 13, 2025, at Aurora Medical Center in Sheboygan.

He was born April 21, 1931, in the Town of Forest near St. Cloud to Albert & Louise (Michels) Sippel.

On October 23, 1954, he married Rawleen R. Davis at Valley Catholic Church in Friday Harbor, WA. Leroy met Rawleen while serving in the Coast Guard on the West coast. After their marriage, the couple moved to St. Cloud, WI where they remained for the rest of their lives. Rawleen preceded him in death on November 20, 2022.

Following his service in the Coast Guard, Leroy began working at the Wehner Grocery Store in St. Cloud. In 1967, Leroy & Rawleen purchased the store and renamed it Sippel's Grocery Store & Meat Lockers. He was well known for his homemade bratwurst. The couple retired in 1997.

Leroy was a member of Our Lady of the Holyland Parish-St. Cloud Site, a former member of the St. Cloud Volunteer Fire Department serving for 54 years (1956-2010), A lifetime member (70 years) of St. Cloud American Legion Harvey Blonigen Post 478, and a member of the Winnebago East Shore Lions Club. He was an avid golfer, bowler, and Wisconsin sports fan.

Survivors include his three Children, Deb (Dan) Kuitert of Fond du Lac, Bob (Deb) Sippel of St. Cloud, and Kelly (Jill) Sippel of New Holstein; five grandchildren, Kelly (Kevin) Nellessen, Geoff Kuitert, Nicole (Dan) Bulin, Jason Sippel, and Jeremy Sippel; three great-grandchildren, Tony, Ava, and Makenna; and his sister-in-law, Alice "Punkie" Berenz of Plymouth. Leroy is further survived by nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Rawleen; his parents, Albert & Louise Sippel; his father-in-law & mother-in-law, Orrin & Georgia Davis; five brothers, Edward (Bernice) Sippel, Alphonse (Ginny) Sippel, Ambrose (Helen) Sippel, and Cletus (Janet) Sippel, and Fr. Bernie Sippel; and two brothers-in-law, Robert Davis and Claude Berenz

A Liturgy of the Word Service will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at the Sippel Funeral Home, 1311 Thorp Street, St. Cloud, WI 53079. Rev. Larry Abler, OFM Cap will preside. Burial will take place at a later date in the St. Cloud Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation: Family and friends may visit with Leroy's family at the Sippel Funeral Home in St. Cloud on Saturday, October 18th from 9:00 AM until 11:45 AM.

A memorial fund will be established in his name.

Leroy's family expresses their sincere appreciation to Shannon, Ann, & Karen for helping to keep him home as long as we could and to the staff at Rocky Knoll Health Care Facility in Plymouth for making him feel at home since moving there this past March.
