Lester Kasper, age 87, of Potter died on Friday, July 29, 2011 at the Chilton Care Center following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on March 13, 1924 in Potter, son of the late Alvin & Bertha (Garbe) Kasper. He married Margaret Krueger on June 3, 1950 at Rural United Methodist Church in Brillion. He served in the U.S. Army as a spotter in the artillery front in southern Germany during World War II. After his tour of duty, he owned and operated Kasper Building Supply in Potter. Lester enjoyed his dogs, hunting, skiing and snowmobiling. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Rantoul. Survivors include his wife Margaret, his children, Jonathan (Marion) Kasper of Brillion, Katherine (Steven) Korner of Pleasant Prairie, WI, Mary (Marc) Stecker of Hilbert, David (Marilyn) Kasper of Hilbert, Elizabeth (Shane) Plath of Menasha, 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, a sister Melva (Winfred) Riemer of Brillion, and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law Homer (Barbara) Krueger of Brillion. Lester was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law Milford and Gertrude Leverenz. Funeral service will be held on Monday August 1, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rantoul. The Rev. Timothy Benninghoff will officiate. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
