Lillian Elsa Hahn

February 8, 1928 — December 14, 2016

Lillian Elsa Hahn was born on February 8, 1928 to Carl and Ida (Bessert) Klessig in Chilton, Wisconsin.  She was baptized into the Kingdom of God’s grace on February 12, 1928 at her childhood home in Chilton.  She was confirmed in God’s grace and in her faith in Christ on April 5, 1942 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Rantoul, Wisconsin.  She became a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hilbert, Wisconsin in 1977.  A favorite Bible verse of Lillian’s was, “Casting all your care upon Him upon Him; for He careth for you,” 1 Peter 5:7.

Lillian married Eldor Hahn on May 28, 1966. Eldor died suddenly and unexpectedly on November 14, 1976. Lillian was a devoted wife and mother.  She loved to sew, bake, decorate cakes, and play her harmonica and accordion.  Lillian also enjoyed planting large gardens and canning.  Her family especially enjoyed her dill pickles and canned peaches.  She grew flowers of all varieties and had plants and flowers in every window and room of her house.  Lillian also had a special way of caring for people. Her Christian faith was a central part of her life. She read the Bible regularly, had personal devotions, listened to a variety of Christian pastors and speakers, was regular in worship, and arranged for the Christian education of her children from first grade through high school. She supported and encouraged her children’s decisions to pursue full-time church work.

Lillian Hahn entered the Father’s house and the glory of her Lord Jesus on December 13, 2016.  She was eighty-eight.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Eldor Hahn; and brother Alfred Klessig.  Still awaiting a reunion in heaven are her sister Anita Draheim; son Kevin Hahn and daughter Cheryl Price; ten grandchildren and numerous loved nieces and nephews.

At the family’s request, gifts in Lillian’s memory may be shared with St. Peter Lutheran Church, Hilbert, Wisconsin.

Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 23, 2016 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hilbert.  Officiating will be Rev. Timmothy Heath.  Burial will take place at Trinity Lutheran Church, Rantoul.
