Obituary

Lois Elaine (Juedes) Spanbauer, age 96, currently of Rocky Knoll Health Care Center formerly of rural St. Cloud (Town of Forest), passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Friday, March 6, 2026, at Aurora Sheboygan County Medical Center.

She was brought into this world on December 16, 1929, in Oshkosh to the late Richard and Albertina (Radig) Juedes. Lois graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1948.

On May 4, 1957, she married the love of her life and soulmate Joseph Spanbauer Jr. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oshkosh. Lois, Joseph and their family farmed in the Town of Forest until 1986. Lois was a Cost Clerk at Precour Company in Oshkosh prior to farming.

She loved music, the Hallmark Movie Channel, gardening and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were the most important part of her life.

Survivors include her daughter, caretaker and best friend, Lynn Schmitz (David) of Saint Cloud; Son, Gregg Spanbauer of Fond du Lac; her loved and cherished daughter-in-law, Beverly Spanbauer of Eden; six grandchildren, Jessie (Jeremy) Liegl, Jason (Katrina) Spanbauer, Katie (Phil) Gourdine, Jamie (Wendy) Schmitz, Adam (Sabrina) Schmitz, Andrew (Jessica) Schmitz; ten great-grandchildren, Mitchell, Matthew and William Liegl, Gavin and Becka Spanbauer, Breea and Weston Gourdine, Larsen, Caden and Adeline Schmitz, and Kylie Schmitz. She is further survived by a sister-in-law, Kay Spanbauer of Oshkosh, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death were her beloved husband, Joseph; her parents; six brothers, Herbert (Ester), Lloyd (Naomi), Norman (Dorothy), Richard (Ellen), Robert & Marvin (Lois) Juedes; two sisters, Lorraine (Walter) Frick and Doris (Charles "Chuck") Sloan; an infant grandson David Schmitz, sister-in-law, Audrey (Bob) Gueller; brother-in-law, William "Bill" Spanbauer; and nephews, Bobby Spanbauer and Josh Juedes.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Our Lady of the Holyland Parish-Saint Cloud Site, 924 Main Street, St. Cloud, WI 53079. Rev. Paul Koenig, OFM Cap will officiate. Burial will be at St. Cloud Catholic Cemetery at a later date.

Visitation: Family and friends may call at the church in St. Cloud on Saturday, March 28th, from 9:00 AM until 10:45 AM.

A special thanks to Kay and Lois's nieces & nephews, Billy Joe, Michele, Brian, Melanie & Melissa; Jane Murdzek; Bonnie and Jeff Juedes for all of their visits, support and love during Lois' life. Also a heart felt thank you to the staff at Rocky Knoll Health Care Center and Aurora Sheboygan Medical Center for their wonderful and loving care.
