Lyla J. Karls, age 82, of Malone (Johnsburg), passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Grancare Nursing Facility in Fond du Lac.
The former Lyla Nett was born June 23, 1932 to the late Anton Nett and Rosalia (Wehner) Nett.
She graduated from New Holstein High School in 1951.
On June 24, 1953 she married Roger Karls at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marytown.
Along with raising her family, she and her husband ran the family farm in the Town of Calumet near Johnsburg. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, the Altar & Rosary Society.
Lyla is survived by her husband, Roger; her children, Larry C. Karls and (Tommy M. Erickson) of Redding, CA, Gary (Mary) Karls of Chilton, Jo Ann (Bill) Schneider of Malone, and Terry (Tammy) Karls of Malone; nine grandchildren, Christina Baer, Michelle Kramarczyk, Michael (LeAnne) Karls, Jessica (Shawn) Heimann, Jennifer (Ryan) Horst, Jason (Annie) Schneider, Justin (Miriah) Schneider, Courtney (Tom) Ockwood, and Tyler Karls; 2 step grandchildren, Lydia and Laurel Smith; ten great-grandchildren; her twin sister, Lillian (Owen) Beck of Oakfield and sister, Rose Birschbach of Mount Calvary; sister-in-law, Florence Nett of Fond du Lac; and other in-laws, Evangeline Karls of Fond du Lac, Anthony "Tony" Schmitz of North Fond du Lac.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Anton and Rosalia Nett; daughter, Judy Karls; two brothers, Jerome Nett and Donald Nett; in-laws, Eugene Birschbach, Viola (Alois) Forstner, Ludvina (Walter) Mueller, Clara (Francis) Dreifuerst, Florence (Albert) Mand, Ben Karls and his first wife, Dolores and second wife, Esther, Clem Karls, Leona (Edwin) Schneider, Francine Schmitz and her first husband Clarence Stephany, Angeline Karls; and an infant sister-in-law who died shortly after birth.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church N9288 Cty Road W Fond du Lac, WI 54937 (Johnsburg). Rev. Joseph Coerber will be officiating. Entombment will be at the Shrine of Rest Chapel Mausoleum at Ledgeview Memorial Park Cemetery in Fond du Lac.
Family and friends may call at the Sippel Funeral Home 1311 Thorp Street St. Cloud, WI 53079 on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 from 3:00-7:00 PM and again at the funeral home Wednesday morning from 8:30-9:45 AM. A Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 PM Tuesday evening at the Sippel Funeral Home.
