September 11, 1929 — December 2, 2022

M. Lois Disterhoft, age 93, a resident of Brillion West Haven, passed away early Friday morning, December 2, 2022.

Lois was born on September 11, 1929 in Waupun, Wisconsin, the daughter of Walter C. and Evelyn M. (Swanson) Seekel. On October 13, 1929, she was brought into the family of believers through the sacrament of Holy Baptism at Pella Lutheran Church in Waupun. She was confirmed in her faith in 1944 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wabasha, Minnesota.

Lois attended the high school department of Dr. Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota and graduated on June 11, 1948. From 1949 to 1952 she taught at St. Paul Lutheran School in Cudahy, Wisconsin. Her great fear at the beginning of her first year was learning how to pronounce the Polish names of her 40-plus students. On July 6, 1952 she married Arnold Jensen at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wabasha. They lived in Waupun where Arnie was a teacher and principal in the prison system and Lois was a stay-at-home mom. Arnie preceded her in death on September 17, 1974. She later married Cecil Disterhoft on July 31, 1982 at Grace Lutheran Church in Waupun, WI. He preceded her in death on April 19, 1986.

Lois provided childcare and adult foster care for many years. She was an active member of the Ladies Aid at Grace in Waupun. She sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, and helped with Lutheran Girl Pioneers. She was also active in the Waupun Hospital Auxiliary and served on its hospital legislative action board- a board that followed legislative proposals and petitioned for changes that would benefit rural hospitals. She was a member of Dodge County Homemakers.

Survivors include her four children: Linda Whitley, Reeseville, WI, David (Audrey) Jensen, Madison, WI, Janice (Pastor James) Adomeit, Waterloo, WI, Jeanne (Pastor Thomas) Fricke, Brillion, WI; nine grandchildren: Paul Whitley, John (Kristen) Whitley, Jacob (Liz) Jensen, Janelle Adomeit, Jared Adomeit, Jonathan Fricke (Paige), Eric Fricke, Michael Fricke, Daniel Fricke (Rachel), seven great-grandchildren: Ophelia, Cordelia, Soren, Zoe, Amelia, Margo, Simeon, and three step-daughters and their families: Pat Molepske, Roberta Olinger, and Lisa Meyer. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Arnold; her second husband Cecil; and a grandson Jason Adomeit.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, December 11 at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Brillion. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Ross Henzi with burial to take place at Forest Mound Cemetery in Waupun, WI the following day.
