Margaret Brodtke

July 4, 1926 — May 22, 2023

Margaret Brodtke, age 96, passed away at the Brillion West Haven on May 22, 2023.

Margaret was born in 1926 in the town of Rockland.  She attended William Penn School and Trinity Lutheran School Rantoul.  She enjoyed learning, helping her parents on the farm, and playing the piano while her brother Rueben played the violin.

In 1944 she married Russell Brodtke and was a dedicated housewife, mother and true helpmate in maintaining the family dairy farm. When not working on the farm, Russell and Margaret enjoyed connecting with family and friends, playing cards, square dancing and taking road trips. Margaret especially loved doting over her grandchildren, great grandchildren and hearing about their many activities.

Margaret loved God, loved others and was always happy to share the good news of her Savior with others. She was a quiet, dignified and lovely soul who will be greatly missed by her family.

Margaret is survived by her children:  Beverly (Carl-deceased), Russell C.,  John (Carol), Marilyn (Paul), Melodie (David), and Michelle (John), her grandchildren:  Kevin, John (Adeline) and Paul, Laura (Jake) and Matthew (Katie),  Mark , Eric,  Emily and Noah. Great grandchildren:  Emett, Liam, Cayden, Crew, Elizabeth, Oliver, Margaret, Henry and Evan.  She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceded in death by her parents, her husband: Russell, a son: Gary, an infant daughter: Rachel, a granddaughter:  Jennifer, son-in-law: Carl, a sister: Anita, three brothers: Rueben, Marcus and Edwin, two brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law: Germaine, Ruth (Oliver), Grace (Leonard), and Clara.

A special thank you to Nancy and all of her care givers at West Haven, especially in her final days.  She always made a point to say she was well cared for there.

Mom’s heart was always with the Lord it would be appreciated that any memorials be made to Manitowoc Lutheran High School or St. John St. James Lutheran Church.

The Pielhop Wieting Funeral Homes of Brillion & Reedsville assisted the family with arrangements.
