Marie S. Daun, age 104, formerly of St. Cloud died Sunday, April 29, 2012 at the Villa Loretto Nursing Home in Mount Calvary.
The former Marie Schmitt was born January 22, 1908 in Mount Calvary to the late Joseph Schmitt and Mary (Boehlein) Schmitt.
On August 7, 1928, she married Hugo Daun at Holy Cross Church in Mount Calvary. After marriage she and her husband farmed in the Mount Calvary area for 25 years then moved to St. Cloud. Hugo preceded her in death on November 4, 1986.
Marie was a member of St. Isidore Parish St. Cloud Church, the Christian Women's Society, and the St. Cloud American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include her two sons, Leonard (Arlene) Daun of St. Cloud and Harvey (Eileen) Daun of Chilton; Eight grandchildren, Deb (Dave) Weber, Diane (Dr. Douglas) Fownes, Dan (Sharon) Daun, Doug (Jill) Daun, Don (Mary) Daun, Dave (Kathy) Daun, Andy Daun, and Jane Daun Tremblay (Bob) Tremblay; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; her sister, Dorothy Ditter of Dotyville; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Hugo; an infant son; her son, Willard Daun; two daughters-in-law, Darlene Daun and Evelyn Daun five brothers and two sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at St. Isidore Parish St. Cloud Church 924 Main Street in St. Cloud. Rev. Steven Kropp OFM Cap. will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Cloud Catholic Cemetery.
Family and friends may call at the Sippel Funeral Home 1311 Thorp Street in St. Cloud on Wednesday, May 2nd from 4:00-7:00 PM and again at the funeral home Thursday morning from 9:00-10:30 AM when brief family rites will be held at the funeral home.
The St. Cloud American Legion Auxiliary will conduct services 6:00 PM Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
A prayer service will be held at the funeral home Wednesday evening at 7:30 PM.
A Memorial Fund will be established in her name.
