Marie V. Muenster, age 97, of New Holstein died in the presence of her family on Sunday, August 20, 2017, at the Atrium Post Acute Care Center of New Holstein. She was born November 10, 1919, in Jericho, WI; a daughter of the late Frank and Theresa (Freidl) Schneider. Marie was married to the late Howard Muenster. Marie worked at Leverenz Shoe Co, Schwartz's Supper Club, and the Calumet Homestead Nursing Home before working for 20 years at Tecumseh Engine Products until retiring in 1982. She worked in her garden the rest of her life. Marie was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein; where she was active in the Christian Women's Society. She worked for many Fall Festivals; serving her famous pumpkin and lemon meringue pies. Survivors include her daughter, Katherine Leicht (Mark) of Montana; a grandson, Jerad (Katie) Leicht of Minnesota; a great-grandson, Braxten Leicht; daughter-in-law, Kathy Muenster of Waukesha, WI; nieces; nephews; great-nieces; great-nephews; cousins; and many friends. She loved them all. In addition to her parents and her husband, Marie was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth; a daughter, Karen; six brothers, John, Joe, Ambrose, Norbert, Frankie, and Herman; and two sisters, Helen Seichter and Loretta Hoerth. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, August 23, 2017, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 1724 Madison Street, New Holstein, WI 53061. Marie will be laid to rest next to her husband following the mass, in Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation: Family and friends may greet the family at Holy Rosary Catholic Church on Wednesday afternoon from 2:00 PM until 3:45 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for St. Jude's Hospital or Calumet County Hospice.
