Obituary

Marie E. Schumacher, age 98, of Johnsburg, passed away Monday, February 1, 2021, at the Villa Loretto Nursing Home in Mount Calvary. She was born October 12, 1922, in the Town of Calumet, near Johnsburg, to Casper & Margaret (Bell) Fuhrmann. Marie attended St. John's Catholic School in Johnsburg. On May 22, 1946, she married Andrew C. Schumacher at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church; he preceded her in death on May 19, 2007. Marie and her husband farmed in the Town of Calumet until retiring in 1991. She was a homemaker all her life in addition to raising her four sons on the original Bell family homestead. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Johnsburg and the Altar & Rosary Society. Survivors include her four sons, John Schumacher of Johnsburg, Robert (K.T.) Schumacher of Johnsburg, Andy Schumacher of St. Cloud, and Stephen (Marilyn) Schumacher of Johnsburg; four grandchildren, Michael Schumacher, Matthew (Katie) Schumacher, Mitchell Schumacher, and Stephanie Schumacher (friend, Adrian); a brother-in-law, Delmar Buechel; a sister-in-law, Esther Schumacher; nieces; nephews; and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents, Casper & Margaret Fuhrmann; her husband, Andrew C. Schumacher; her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Aureila (Oliver) Nett, Paul (Edvina) Schumacher, Marie Buechel, Francis (Lauraina) Schumacher, and Edward Schumacher. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Johnsburg. Marie will be laid to rest next to her husband, Andrew, in the parish cemetery.
