Marilyn Ann Tikalsky, of New Holstein, passed away peacefully with family at her side on November 14th, 2015. She was born March 27, 1930 in Denmark, Wisconsin, as the only daughter of Louis and Josephine Kriwanek. She graduated from St. Joseph's Academy in Green Bay. Early in life, she worked for the Kriwanek Bros. Company in the general store. She married her husband of 62 years, Leland Tikalsky, at All Saints Catholic Church in Denmark on April 24th, 1954. She was a loving, dedicated wife and mother to their nine children, whom they raised in Denmark and New Holstein. Marilyn was a lifelong Girl Scout. She was a scout with the first Girl Scout troop in Denmark and later a leader with the New Holstein Girl Scouts and Drill Team, New Holstein Area Coordinator and board member for the Manitou Council. After serving many years in girl scouting she was awarded the St. Anne Medal for excellence in leadership in youth ministry by the Catholic Diocese. She was a devoted Catholic and served the Holy Rosary Parish as a teacher in the religious education program, a lector, and a member of the funeral choir. Marilyn was an active volunteer and member of the New Holstein community. She was the first woman elected to the New Holstein School Board, and served as President of the PTA. She also worked for Metko and Silver Moon Processing in New Holstein. Marilyn enjoyed playing bridge, bowling, and golfing with friends over many years. She is survived by her devoted husband, Leland Tikalsky, and eight children; Lee Brey of Kiel, WI; Kevin Tikalsky of Charlotte, NC; John Tikalsky of Charlotte, NC; Paul (Julie) Tikalsky of Stillwater, OK; Nancy Tikalsky of Zion, IL; Mary Tikalsky of Wheaton, IL; Lynn Tikalsky of Troutdale, OR; and James Tikalsky of Plymouth, WI. She is also survived by her brother, Russell Kriwanek of Green Bay, WI; sister-in-law, Lori Kriwanek of Hilton Head Island, SC; 10 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and extended family. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, her son, David Tikalsky, her brother and his wife Robert and Penny Kriwanek, and sister-in-law Bette Kriwanek. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 12:00 noon on Tuesday, November 17, 2015, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 1724 Madison Street New Holstein, WI 53061. Rev. Harold Berryman will officiate with Parish Director, Joe Zenk assisting. Visitation: Tuesday, November 17, 2015, at 10 am until 11:30 am at Holy Rosary Church.
