Marion Marie Steffes, age 97, of St Joe, WI, passed away peacefully early Monday morning on August 14, 2023, after a brief stay in hospice care. Marion was born on May 15, 1926, the daughter of Wendelin and Leona (Abler) Will of Mt. Calvary. On May 30, 1947, she married Victor Steffes of St. Joe and thus began a lifetime farming partnership.

Marion always enjoyed music. Before she was married, Marion and her Aunt Agatha were a duet that performed at local events; they sang accompanied by Marion playing accordion and Agatha on guitar. Marion and Vic were longtime members of the choir of St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Joe. They especially enjoyed dancing and, in later years, always looked forward to dancing to live music on Sunday afternoons. Neighbors will remember seeing Marion, well into her 90s, mowing the lawn on her riding lawn mower.

Marion was preceded in death by Vic in 2012 and a granddaughter, Mary Marie Steffes. She is survived by her daughter Julie (Jack) Deitte of Minneapolis, MN; son Mark (Susan) Steffes of St. Cloud; daughter Lisa Steffes and partner Hiroko Ortiz of Franklin, GA; grandson Sean Steffes and great grandchildren Benjamin and Maxwell; granddaughter Sara (Mike) Demerath and great grandchildren Olivia and Ethan; brother Eugene "Bill" (Pat) Will; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Private services will be held at a later date.
