Marjorie Lou Gehl

Marjorie “Marge” Lou Gehl, age 80, of Appleton, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at Oak Ridge Gardens in Appleton.

Marge was born on January 29, 1936 in Chilton, daughter of the late Leo and Bridget (Head) Stenz.  She was a graduate of Stockbridge High School.  On April 7, 1956 she married Andrew “Jim” Gehl in Stockbridge.  He preceded her in death on August 25, 2001.  Marge stayed home and raised the couples 8 children.  Jim and Marge enjoyed dancing, camping with family, and spending time with family.  She was an avid Badgers, Packers, and Brewers fan, was known for her fresh biscuits and meatloaf, could come up with the best sassy comebacks, and enjoyed bingo.

Marge will be greatly missed by her 8 children and their spouses: Sue (Dan) Kriescher of Little Chute, Sandy (Tony) Bangart of Appleton, Rick (Ann) Gehl of Stockbridge, Julie (Bruce) Buelow of Hilbert, Mike (Tina) Gehl of Brillion, Nancy (Gary “Doc”) Suess of Brillion, Marilyn (Chuck) Miller of Hilbert, and Theresa (Scott) Willson of Stockbridge; grandchildren: Tara Backus, Larry Bangart, Angie Buelow and special friend Kurt, Chad Kandler and special friend Amy, Ashleigh (Jon) Kees, Ryan Gehl, Crystal Mitts, Dawn Buelow and special friend Jerry, Joey Buelow, Eryka (Dan) Schiesl, Cassie (Joey) Gallegos, Erik (Sierra) Bangart, Travis Miller and special friend Amber, Shayna (Mark) Tasch, Mindy (Orville) Jacobs, Amanda (fiance’ Steve Spatchek) Gehl, Tricia Miller and special friend Tray, and Nathaniel Gehl and special friend Tori; two brothers and four sisters-in-law: Daniel (Donna) Stenz of Alabama, Marvin (Ginny) Stenz of Appleton, Pat (George) Wittmann of Hilbert, and Andrea “Babe” (Bob) Stephanie of New Holstein; special friend: Stephanie, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jim, her father-in-law and mother-in-law: Andrew and Catherine (Giesen) Gehl, two sisters and brothers-in-law: Lillian (Romy) Kappus, Sr., and Alice (Leo) Schneider, and other in-laws.

Funeral Service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 20, 2016 at the Wieting Funeral Home, 215 South Main Street in Brillion.  Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery in Askeaton.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
