Martin E. Birschbach 90 of St. Peter, formerly of Kaukauna, Wisconsin passed away on November 29, 2023. Born on November 25,1933 to Martin J and Elma M (Schmitz) Birschbach, Martin attended school in Mt. Calvary.
He married his beloved life partner Lorraine S (Krebsbach) Birschbach in 1955. Martin joined the Army and served from 1955-1957 in Ft. Leonard Wood and Germany. He had a life-long bond with three army buddies who gathered for many years around the 4th of July. He was an excellent accordionist and gave lessons in his early years. He loved polka music and eventually started a polka band. Martin worked for thirty-five years as an agricultural feed sales manager for MoorMan's Feed and in later years assisted Lorraine in growing crops on their farm. Martin enjoyed meeting people and had many great conversations, always learning something new. He loved gatherings with his children and grandchildren, reading and playing sheepshead.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Lorraine, six children Jeanette (Bill) Newhouse, Elaine (Jim) Jackson, Audrey (Mike) Robertson, Myron (Barb) Birschbach, Joyce (Steve) Bergelin and Eric (Pamela) Birschbach. Thirteen grandchildren, Andy, Jenna & Evan Newhouse; Patrick & Abigail Jackson; Caitlin (Vitaliy) Tufeld & Jillian Robertson; Philip (Katherine) Birschbach, Jason (Kathryn) Birschbach & Cara Birschbach; Rachel Bergelin; Ian & Hannah Birschbach; treasured nieces and nephews from the William & Virginia (Krebsbach) Hau and Eugene & Mary Ann (Steffes) Birschbach families, and Scott Gratton.
Martin is preceded in death by his parents Martin J. & Elma M, brothers, in-laws, and sister: Eugene (Mary Ann) Birschbach, Conrad (Evelyn) Birschbach, Wilfred (Yvonne) Birschbach, Daniel Birschbach, Anthony Birschbach, Edith Gratton, Arthur & Mathilda (Hilt) Krebsbach and William & Virginia (Krebsbach) Hau.
A Liturgy Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 271 Fourth Street Way, Fond du Lac, WI 54935. Future burial to take place in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation: Family and friends may visit with Martin's family at Holy Family Catholic Church on Saturday morning, December 16th from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM.
