Marvin C. "Mort" Brocker, 81, Florence, WI formerly of New Holstein, died Sunday, December 21, 2014 at his home. He was born on Dec. 10, 1933 in St. Nazianz, WI, the son of the late Milton and Christena (Rosenbauer) Brocker.
Mort graduated from New Holstein High School in 1952. He Served in the U.S. Navy and had worked at Tecumseh. For thirty years Mort owned and operated the Elite Bar in New Holstein.
Mort was a member of the New Holstein Lions Club, Outdoors Inc. the Disabled American Veterans, and the New Holstein American Legion Post 124. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He married Barbara DeGroot on July 22, 1995 at the Elite Bar. The couple moved from New Holstein to Florence in 2004.
Mort is survived by his wife, Barbara; one daughter, Sandy (Blato) Blatz of New Holstein; two grandchildren, Cassandra and Brandon Blat; one brother, Ralph Brocker of Lower Michigan; and three sisters, Bernice (Frank) Groh of New Holstein, LaVerne Kabat of Fond du Lac, and Jean (Bernie) Fraser of Milwaukee. He is further survived by his mother-in-law and father in law, Arlene and John DeGroot; two brothers-in-law, Jack (Bonnie) DeGroot of Arizona and Jerry (Carla) DeGroot of Green Bay; two sisters-in-law, Mary Kay (Alan) Olson of Pulaski and Susie (David) Brandonburg of Chilton; three special friends, Tim Webber, Steve Hess, and Renee Russo; many nieces and nephews, and also his furry four legged partner, Coco.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Jerome "Romy" Brocker; two sisters-in-law, Irene Brocker and Rosalie "Lee" Brocker; and one brother in law, John Kabat.
The Funeral Service for Mort will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at the Sippel Funeral Home 2618 Altona Avenue New Holstein, WI 53061. Military Rites conducted by the New Holstein American Legion Post 124 will follow.
Family and friends may call at the funeral home Saturday, December 27th from 12:00 noon until the time of service.
In Lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in his name.
