Marvin Valentine Keuler, age 93, of Mount Calvary, passed away from Congestive Heart Failure on Friday, February 5, 2021, at the Villa Loretto Nursing Home in Mount Calvary where he resided since 2018. He was born March 6, 1927, in Mount Calvary to Henry & Alvina (Weber) Keuler. He attended Holy Cross Grade School in Mount Calvary and two years of High School at Mount Calvary High School. He graduated from Fond du Lac High School in 1945. He studied business management at the University Extension in Milwaukee. Marvin enlisted in the US Navy in 1945. He was stationed at the Corona Naval Base in Corona, California. Marvin's working interests revolved around the art of Culinary Cooking. His career began as an apprentice cook at St. Anthony Hospital in Milwaukee. He also worked as Chef's Assistant Cook at the University Club of Milwaukee, Food Service Manager at Blue Mound Country Club, Assistant Manager at the Retlaw Hotel, Manager of the Calumet Hotel in Fond du Lac (until the hotel closed) and retired in 1987 from the Swift Company in Milwaukee as a Food (Meat) Broker. Following his retirement, he moved back to his hometown of Mount Calvary to live in the Keuler home built by his grandfather, Anton Keuler. Marvin enjoyed golfing, bowling, cooking, watching the Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers, and wood carving, especially small comical figures. He enjoyed volunteering during the summer months at the Galloway House and Village as well as paying a visit on Thursday afternoons at the Malone Heritage Museum. He was a member of St. Isidore Parish-Holy Cross Church in Mount Calvary and the Abler-Engel American Legion Post 454 in Mount Calvary. Survivors include his sister, Myra (Don) Wilhelms, his sister-in-law, Joanne Keuler; nieces, Denise (Dan) Bates, Donna (Phil) Zurowski, and Lynn (Pat) Ziegler; nephews, Mark (Janet) Wilhelms, Michael Wilhelms, and Craig (Charmaine) Keuler; nine great-nieces and nephews; and five great-great nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, Henry & Alvina Keuler; his brother, Jerome Keuler; and an infant sister, Marian Keuler. Marvin was a beloved brother and uncle. He never missed a birthday and was always happy to spend time with his family, especially his yearly gathering with the family at the firemen's picnic in Mount Calvary. Marvin was a friendly, congenial man who enjoyed people. He was a man who loved Mount Calvary and was proud of his heritage in the community. Marvin was also a spiritual man, who loved God in his own quiet way. He will be greatly missed and we are thankful to God for having him in our lives.
