Marvin H. Korb, age 86, of Fond du Lac, formerly of Marytown, passed away with his loving family at his side on Friday, January 3, 2025.
He was born June 1, 1938, on the Korb family homestead in the Town of Marshfield near Marytown, to Gottfried & Estella (Jacky) Korb.
Marvin attended St. Mary's Catholic Grade School and New Holstein High School. He served in the US Army from 1957 until 1963.
On May 30, 1958, he married Geraldine "Gerry" Petrie at St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Joe. Gerry preceded him on death on February 17, 1999. On October 8, 2010, he married Donna (Korpi) Patt at Whispering Springs in Fond du Lac.
Marvin operated the Korb homestead (A Registered Sesquicentennial Homestead) in the Town of Marshfield near Marytown. In addition to operating the farm, he worked part time at NAPA Auto Parts and several area mink ranches.
During his free time, he enjoyed bowling, trap shooting, hunting, fishing, sturgeon spearing, golfing, and playing cards. In 2009, he accomplished a 300 game in bowling and a hole in one golfing.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Holyland Parish-St. Mary's Site in Marytown, Holy Name Society, and the Marytown Veterans Club. Marvin was a former member of the Fond du Lac Evening Optimist, the Eagles Club 270, Sturgeon for Tomorrow, Riverside Hunting & Fishing Club, and the Fond du Lac American Legion Post 75.
Survivors include his wife, Donna; Marvin's five children, Debbie (Ron) Stahmann of rural Chilton, Randy (Denise) Korb of rural St. Cloud "Marytown", Vicki (Mike) Berandt of Fond du Lac, Jeff Korb of rural St. Cloud "Marytown", and Lori (Bob) Braun of Fond du Lac; his two step children, Bonnie (Tom) Nemetz of Grafton and Christine Jacobs of Fond du Lac; 11 grandchildren, Heather (Adam) Mommaerts, Heidi (Jamie) Brill, Amber (Duane) Kuehl, Aaron (Ellen) Korb, Brittany Korb (Chad Broderick), Keagan Berandt (Mackenzie Retzlaff), Logan Berandt, Josh Korb (Abby Hultman), Jared Quimby, Jenna Quimby, Jaden Braun; two Stahmann step grandchildren, Traci (Vince) Schultz and Lisa Baier; three step grandchildren, Ryan Sweeney, Jenna Sweeney, and Christopher Jacobs; 11 great grandchildren, McKenna & Jacob Mommaerts, Ashlyn & Kaylee Brill, Emma Gustavus, Kaya & Asher Korb, Cash & Ford Broderick, Miles Korb, Skyla Quimby and the 12th & 13th great grandchildren expecting in June 2025; one step great grandchild, Adalyn Sweeney; his sister, Judy Mathes of Brillion; his brothers-in-law, James Schaefer of Mount Calvary, Ronald Petrie of rural St. Cloud, and Ronald (Naoma) Korpi of Maui. He is further survived by nieces; nephews; other relatives; and many friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Gottfried & Estelle Korb; his first wife, Geraldine "Gerry"; his brother, Andy (Ginny) Korb; his sister, Mary Ann Schaefer; brother-in-law, Tony Mathes; and sisters-in-law, Marlene (Howard) Sippel and Mary Petrie.
A Liturgy Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, January 13, 2025, at Our Lady of the Holyland Parish-St. Mary's Site in Marytown (N10232 County Road G, New Holstein, WI 53061). Rev. Paul Koenig, OFM Cap will officiate. Marvin will be laid to rest next to his wife in the church cemetery following the Mass. Military Rites will be held following the Mass.
Visitation: Family and friends may visit with Marvin's family on Sunday, January 12, 2025, from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the Sippel Funeral Home in New Holstein (2618 Altona Avenue, New Holstein, WI 53061). Visitation will also be at the funeral home in New Holstein Monday, January 13th from 11:00 AM until 12:15 PM.
Marvin's family expresses their sincere appreciation to the staff at The Meadows of Fond du Lac and The Manor for their care and compassion given to him and shown to our family.
Family was very important to Marvin. He thought the world of his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
