Obituary

Mary Ann Koenen (nee Lefeber) 88, formerly of Mt. Calvary died peacefully at LakeHouse Assisted Living New Holstein on Friday, January 3, 2025.

Born January 4, 1936, to Alex and Dorothy (Wollersheim) Lefeber in Johnsburg.

On July 3, 1954, she married Lavern Koenen at St. John the Baptist Church in Johnsburg.

Vern and Mary Ann lived in Mt. Calvary for the majority of their lives and later transitioned to assisted living in New Holstein. They were life-long members of Holy Cross Church (Our Lady of the Holyland Parish Holy Cross Site).

Mary Ann was a homemaker when she had young children and in 1974 pursued a career in cosmetology at MPTI (MPTC) in Fond du Lac. She worked at Hill's Beauty Salon, The Hair Hut, and in 1983 opened her own salon, Country Styles in Mt. Calvary.

Mary Ann is survived by four daughters: Pat (Allan) Utecht of Kiel, Dianne (Mark) Stellpflug of New Holstein, Rosa (Joe) Sabatino of Schaumburg, Illinois, and Donna (Jeff) Berchem of New Holstein.

Grandchildren: Katie (Paul) Thibeault, Kristin (Patrick) Humpal, Kyle (Loreen) Stellpflug, Matt (Maia) Rumpho-Stellpflug, Laura (Rick) Bruess, Leah (Erik) Olsen, Gina (Tony) Zipparro, Hannah (Dale) Balsitis, Joey (Alyssa) Sabatino, Tara (Jay) Woldt and Hayley Berchem.

Great-grandchildren: Emma, Ava, Sydney, Finn, Cora, Mark, Vayda, Isaiah, Tessa, Ben, Juliette, Nate, and Claire.

Step-siblings: Julia Henning and John (Paula) Lefeber; aunt, Dorothy Kraus; in-laws Harold Koenen and Robert (Bernadette) Koenen.

Mary Ann is preceded in death by her husband, Vern; parents, Alex Lefeber and Dorothy Halfmann; step-father, Leo Halfmann; in-laws, Hubert and Laura Koenen; grandchild, Ross Berchem; step-sister, Esther Hemschmeyer; aunts and uncles, Severin (Evangeline) Lefeber, Herman Kraus, Alfred (Alma) Wollersheim, Ervin (Esther) Wollersheim, Viola (Ray) Abler; sister-in-law, Darlene Koenen and many more relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at the Sippel Funeral Home, 2618 Altona Avenue, New Holstein, WI 53061. Rev. Paul Koenig will officiate.

Visitation for Mary Ann will be held at Sippel Funeral Home in New Holstein on Saturday, January 11th from 10 to 11:30 am.

Entombment will take place at Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Ledgeview Cemetery.
