Mary Ann (Korb) Schaefer, age 79, of Mount Calvary, passed away at her home with her family at her side on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, following a brief illness.

She was born February 2, 1944, on the Korb homestead near Marytown to Gottfried & Estelle (Jacky) Korb. Mary Ann attended grade school at St. Mary's Catholic School in Marytown and graduated from New Holstein High School in 1962.

On November 10, 1962, she married Jim Schaefer at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marytown.

Mary Ann worked as a CNA for most of her working career. She was a volunteer EMT for the Mount Calvary Ambulance Service for 22 years.

She enjoyed bowling in the local league, playing cards, fishing & 55 years of sturgeon spearing, and spending time up North with her husband & other family and friends. Mary Ann also loved spending time tending to her flowers & vegetable gardens. In earlier years, she went snowmobiling and later, riding in her UTV. Mary Ann was an avid Brewers and Packers fan. She truly loved attending her grandchildren's sporting events and other school activities.

Mary Ann was a member of Our Lady of the Holyland Parish-Holy Cross Site and the Christian Women's Society.

Survivors include her husband, Jim; her four children, Mark (Lori) Schaefer of Fond du Lac, Mike Schaefer of Mount Calvary, Neal (Sheri) Schaefer of Mount Calvary, and Tina (Tom) Tabbert of St. Cloud; six grandchildren, Amy (Scott) Whitt, Jessica (Derek) Frederick, Kyle Adams, Cory Adams (friend, Kenzie), Samantha Tabbert (friend, Luis) and Alyssa Tabbert (Friend, Austun); seven great-grandchildren, Garret, Scottie, and Savanna Whitt, Asher Adams, Rose Bausita, Kayden Tabbert, and Vanessa Tabbert; her brother, Marvin (Donna) Korb of Fond du Lac; her sister, Judy Mathes of Chilton; her sister-in-law, Mary Schaefer of Mount Calvary, and her four legged companion, "Blackie". Mary Ann is further survived by many nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Gottfried & Estelle Korb; her father-in-law & mother-in-law, Frank & Mary Schaefer; her brother, Andrew (Virginia) Korb; sisters-in-law, Geraldine Korb, Leona (Lawrence) Engel, Edna (Gilson) Sabel, Florence (Ray) Ziegelbauer, Marcella Schaefer, and Virginia (Eugene) Lefeber; brothers-in-law, Tony Mathes, Clarence (Stella) Schaefer, Claude (Stella) Schaefer, Francis (Bernice) Schaefer, and Cyril Schaefer; nieces and nephews.

A Liturgy Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at Our Lady of the Holyland Parish-Holy Cross Site, 308 County Road W, Mount Calvary, WI 53057. Rev. Paul Koenig, OFM Cap will officiate. Inurnment will take place at a later date in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Mount Calvary.

Visitation: Family and friends may visit with Mary Ann's family at the church in Mount Calvary on Saturday, October 7th from 9:00 AM until 12:30 PM.

Mary Ann's family wishes to express their heart-felt appreciation to SSM at Home Hospice, family, friends and neighbors; but most of all to Sheri & Jessy and her friend of over 60 years, Rita Weber. Thank you for being there for her to comfort her.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in her name.
