Obituary

Mary Ann Schmitz, age 62, of rural Malone "Pipe", passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, December 6, 2017, at St. Agnes Hospital. She was born August 11, 1955, to Rose (Nett) Birschbach and the late Eugene Birschbach. She attended grade school at Holy Cross in Mount Calvary and St. Michael's in Dotyville. Mary Ann graduated from Campbellsport High School in 1973. On September 9, 1978, she married Allen A. Schmitz at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mount Calvary. Mary Ann had a strong work ethic and was employed by A.C. Nielsen for approximately 30 years. She also was a First Responder with Calumet Fire & Rescue for several years and most recently worked at ATI in Mount Calvary. She enjoyed tending to her flower gardens, vacationing in Door County, decorating the house throughout the holidays, numerous getaways with her sisters. But most importantly, she was dedicated to her family and enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren. Mary Ann will always be fondly remembered for her kind, generous, and beautiful spirit. Mary Ann is survived by her husband, Allen A. Schmitz; her two children: her son, Phillip (Kelly) Schmitz and their children, Claire & Ethan of St. Cloud "St. Joe" and her daughter, Jessica (Eric) Muench and their soon to be born child, of Kaukauna; her mother, Rose Birschbach of Fond du Lac; her brother and sisters, Debbie (Dennis) Schneider of Fond du Lac "St. Peter", Patty (Mike) Schneider of Malone, Bonnie (Rick) Schmitz of Fond du Lac, Cheryl (CT) Field of Fond du Lac, and Gerald (Sherry) Birschbach of North Fond du Lac; her mother-in-law, Mae (Bleuel) Schmitz of Fond du Lac; sisters-in-law & brothers-in-law, Joan (Dennis) Hill of Manitowish Waters, Rick (Bonnie) Schmitz of Fond du Lac, Diane (Dean) Salchert of St. Cloud, and Larry Schmitz of Fond du Lac. She is further survived by uncles; aunts; numerous nieces & nephews; other relatives and many friends. Preceding her in death were her father, Eugene Birschbach; her father-in-law, Anthony B. Schmitz; uncles; and aunts. Visitation: Family and friends may visit with the family at the Sippel Funeral Home in New Holstein, 2618 Altona Avenue, New Holstein, WI 53061, on Sunday, December 10, 2017 from 12:00 Noon until 4:00 PM. Entombment will take place at a later date at Shrine of Rest Chapel Mausoleum at Ledgeview Memorial Park Cemetery in Fond du Lac.
