Mary Jane Mintner, formerly of Glenbeulah, died peacefully on May 11, 2022 surrounded by loving family at Rocky Knoll Health Care Center, Plymouth. She was born Mary Jane Novak on August 4, 1931 in Milwaukee. In 1949, she graduated from Mercy High School, an all-girls Catholic school in the city. She married James (Sunny Jim) Robert Mintner on May 20, 1950. The couple was blessed with six children, three girls and three boys. Family was Mary's life. She devoted herself completely to her husband and children. While Jim worked as an electrician, Mary embraced the busy life of a full-time mom. She gave each child all her love and care. Once the children got older, Jim and Mary moved out of Milwaukee to their small cottage along the Mullet River in Glenbeulah. It was a magical place. We remember many sun-filled days on "Mintner's Riverside" as well as winter fun (hockey, ice fishing, sledding and Christmases) at "the cottage." Mary was at the center of it all. Her mission was to make sure everyone had everything they needed. She wanted everyone to be happy. She would always ask if you wanted something to eat and drink. If you said "no," she would return five minutes later and ask again, until you said "yes." She also liked to ask everyone questions about their lives. Her love for all – especially her many grandchildren – was overflowing. Together with Jim, she radiated happiness and kindness with everyone who knew them. Mary taught us how to live a simple, family-centered life, and how to put others before ourselves. She also showed us how to have a good time. She was seen on many nights at local supper clubs with a Perfect Manhattan in hand and cigar on her lips. She laughed a lot, often to the point of tears. She loved to read, garden, and travel. She is survived by five of her children: Jane (John) Lecher, Tim (Sue) Mintner, Linda Mintner, Gary (Cheryl) Mintner, Lauree (Tom) Wendland, and Jill (Jerold) LaPinske. She was a proud grandma of Tom (Nicole) and Brian (Melissa) Lecher, Sarah (Chad) Ramminger, Terry (Maa'yan) Mintner, Lindsey (Eric) Schaefer, Wyatt (Nadine) Mintner, Krysti Hernandez, Corynn (Ryan) Feldmann, Gary (Manda) and Jacob Mintner, Toni (Cal) VanEpern, Andrea and Anna (Nick) Crowley, Jimmy, Charlie (Jenni) and Elizabeth LaPinske. She was proud of her 26 great grandchildren: Nora and Violet Lecher; Samuel, Emmett and Eleanor Lecher; Jack, Brady, and Luke Ramminger; Roni and Elliot Mintner; Nolan and William Schaefer; Mila and Wyatt Jr. Mintner; Ella and Brody Feldman; Paxtyn, Layla, and Zoey Mintner; Beckham, Malcolm, and Abram VanEpern; Jarek Roman; Tucker Christian; and Owen and Oliver LaPinske. She was preceded in death by her parents: Martin and Frances Novak; Jim, her husband; son Michael "Mike" Mintner; two sisters Victoria Schull and Jeanne Sullivan; grandson-in-law Michael Hernandez; and Andrea Wendland's partner, Nick.
