Mary E. Muenster, age 91, of New Holstein, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 4, 2014.
The former Mary McGrath was born December 7, 1922, in Chilton to the late James & Frances (Coon) McGrath. Mary graduated from Chilton High School in 1940. She received her teaching degree from UW Whitewater in 1946.
On August 8, 1959, she married Donald Muenster at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein. Don preceded her in death on November 3, 1994.
Mary had been a business education teacher in Wittenberg, WI from 1946 to 1952. In 1952, she began teaching at New Holstein High School until retiring in 1976.
She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein, the Christian Women's Society, the Calumet Homestead Nursing Home Auxiliary, and the Willowpark Nursing Home Auxiliary. She was a former member of the Calumet County Aging Unit.
Mary is survived by a sister-in-law, Marie Muenster of New Holstein; a brother-in-law, James Volstedt of Fond du Lac; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, neighbors, and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents, James & Frances McGrath; her step-mother, Lue Comerford McGrath; her husband, Donald Muenster; three sisters, Ann (Carlton) Jodar, Jane (Bernard) Friederichs, and Frances (James) Friederichs.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 9, 2014, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church 1724 Madison Street New Holstein, WI 53061. Rev. Harold Berryman will officiate with Deacon Pat Knier assisting. Entombment will be in the Knollwood Memorial Park Mausoleum in Manitowoc.
Friends and family may call at Holy Rosary Church on Thursday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of services.
