Matthew "Matt" E. Franzen, 53, of St. Cloud, died unexpectedly Sunday, December 12, 2010.
He was born May 22, 1957 to Nathalie Schroeder Franzen and the late Elmer Franzen.
Matt Graduated from New Holstein High School in 1975.
On May 29, 1982, he married Lynn Horn.
He had worked for Knowles Mfg. in Glenbeulah, Schuette Mfg. and most recently with Kondex in Lomira.
He was a member of St. Isidore Parish: St. Cloud Church, a member of the St. Cloud Fire Department, and the St. Cloud Athletic Club where he was also a director.
Matt enjoyed bowling for many years at the bowling alley in Mount Calvary and helped his father-in-law at the recycling center in St. Cloud.
He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Franzen of Fond du lac; his son, Justin Franzen of Fond du Lac; his mother, Nathalie Franzen of Kiel; his brothers and sisters, Marge Franzen of Oconto, Michael (Linda) Franzen of Fond du Lac, Martin (Sue) Franzen of Malone, Mary (Randy) Koenigs of St. Cloud, Monica (Brian) Boll of New Holstein, Marsha (Doug) Prange of Elkhart Lake, Marlon (Karla) Franzen of Fond du Lac, Melissa (Brian) Suchan of Kiel, Mitchell (Marcia) Franzen of New Holstein, Mason Franzen and his special friend, Holly Preissner of Mount Calvary and Maxwell (Sara) Franzen of St. Cloud; his mother-in-law, Shirley Horn of St. Cloud; his former wife, Lynn Franzen and her fiancé, Gregg Zimmermann of Fond du Lac; his sisters-in-law, Cheri Roepke and her fiancé, Michael Kroener of St. Cloud and Jamie (Paul) Ausloos of Elkhart Lake; his brother-in-law, Don Horn and his fiancé, Tammy Otto of Fond du Lac; two uncles, Robert (Mary) Franzen of New Holstein and Richard (Mary Jean) Schroeder of "Marytown" New Holstein. Matt is further survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Elmer Franzen; his father-in-law, James Horn; his maternal grandparents, and paternal grandparents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 17, 2010 at St. Isidore Parish: St. Cloud Church, 924 Main Street in St. Cloud. Rev. Steven Kropp OFM Cap. will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Cloud Catholic Cemetery.
Family and friends may call at the Sippel Funeral Home, 1311 Thorp Street in St. Cloud on Thursday, December 16th from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM and again at the funeral home Friday morning from 9:00 until 10:30 AM when brief family rites will be held at the funeral home.
A prayer service will be held at the funeral home Thursday evening at 8:00 PM.
A Memorial Fund will be established in his name.
