Melroy “Mel” Eickert, age 76, of Brillion, died unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, October 31, 2018, which was his birthday.
He was born on October 31, 1942 in Fond du Lac, son of the late Melvin and Irene (Dallmann) Eickert. On February 10, 1968, Mel married Arlette Caflisch at St. Mary Catholic Church in Brillion. He worked at the Ariens Co. in Brillion for 42 years until his retirement. Mel was an avid Badger, Brewer and Packer fan. He liked to golf in the summer but was always ready for a good card game, anytime. He took great pride, and was very meticulous about his yard and flower beds. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Brillion.
Survivors include his wife, Arlette, a sister, Ronae Schulz of Oshkosh, brothers-in-law, Arthur (Ann) Caflisch of Brillion, Armen (Lana) Caflisch of Madison, Alden (Bridget) Caflisch of Oshkosh and many nieces, nephews and friends. Mel was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Herb Schulz.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, November 5, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brillion. The Rev. Ross Henzi will officiate. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery, Brillion.
Visitation will take place on Sunday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Wieting Funeral Home in Brillion. There will be a time of sharing memories at 6:30 p.m. Sunday to end the visitation. Visitation will continue on Monday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
