Melvin H. Kraus, age 89, of Mount Calvary, formerly of rural St. Cloud (St. Joe) passed away Saturday, August 2, 2014, at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac. He was born December 10, 1924, to the late Edward & Anna (Schaefer) Kraus. On August 31, 1949, he married Alma C. Wagner at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fond du Lac; Alma preceded him in death on May 22, 2011. Melvin and his wife worked together running the family farm in the Town of Marshfield in the St. Joe area. He was a member of St. Isidore Parish-St. Joseph Church and the St. Anthony Society. Survivors include his daughter, Mary Ann Kraus of Mount Calvary; his grandson, Kevin Kraus and his fiancé, Alina Ciepluch of Markesan; his brother, Benno (Betty) Kraus of Marytown; his sisters, Laurina Schumacher of Fond du Lac, Rosemary (Jerome) Baus of Fond du Lac, and Joanne Freund of New Holstein; brother-in-law, Benno (Florence) Wagner of Fond du Lac; and his sister-in-law, Christine Schmitz of Fond du Lac. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward & Anna Kraus; his wife, Alma; two sons, Alois & Joseph Kraus; his sister, Loretta Morgan; his in-laws, Leo Morgan, Francis Schumacher, Wilmer Freund, Bernice Wagner, Melvin Schmitz, Alfred Wagner, Ray (Valeria) Wagner, and Martha (Ed) Halter. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, August 8, 2014, at St. Isidore Parish-St. Joseph Church, W620 County Road G St. Cloud, WI 53079 (St. Joe). Rev. Gary Wegner OFM Cap will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
