Mildred A. Schaefer, age 104, of Mount Calvary, passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2016, (one day before her 105th birthday) at the Villa Loretto Nursing Home in Mount Calvary. The former Mildred Lefeber was born June 8, 1911, in the Town of Marshfield near St. Joe, to Joseph & Gertrude (Horn) Lefeber. She attended St. Joseph Catholic Grade School in St. Joe. On September 2, 1929, she married Henry Schaefer at St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Joe. Mildred and her husband farmed in the Malone & Mount Calvary area until their retirement. Henry preceded her in death in 1994. Mildred also was employed as a nursing assistant at the Villa Loretto for many years. Mildred was a member of St. Isidore Parish-Holy Cross Church in Mount Calvary, the Christian Women's Society, Altar Society and a member of the Villa Loretto Auxiliary. Survivors include her four sons, Kenneth Schaefer of Ashford, David (Doris) Schaefer of Mount Calvary, Gerald (Rosemary) Schaefer of Oshkosh and Harold (Mary Jane) Schaefer of Mount Calvary; four daughters, Shirley (Leroy) Boeder of St. Peter, Lorna (Harry) Ribbke of Madison, Nancy Struck of Mount Calvary and Barbara Schaefer of Glenbeulah; 22 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren her brother, Roy Lefeber of Mount Calvary; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents, Joseph & Gertrude Lefeber; a son, Allan Schaefer; daughter-in-law, Katy; a granddaughter; a grandson; a sister, Esther and two brothers, Ervin & Leo Lefeber. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 10, 2016, at St. Isidore Parish-Holy Cross Church, 308 S. County Road W, Mount Calvary, WI 53057. Rev. Gary Wegner, OFM Cap will officiate. Mildred will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.
