Obituary

Murray Everett Fry of St. Cloud, Wisconsin, at the age of 91, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at his home. Per his wishes a cremation has taken place. A celebration will be held in the future with burial at St. Cloud Cemetery.

Murray was born April 3,1934 in Maple Lake, Ontario Canada. He was the first born of the late Lorne and Charolotte (Godfrey) Fry. He graduated from Halliburton High School in June of 1952.

On a visa in the spring of 1953, he took a train to Flint, Michigan to stay with his aunt Elva and uncle Jay. He was on a waiting list to attend General Motors Engineering school. Draft notice came. Drafted into the Army in 1954. His uncle Jay convinced him to join the Navy instead. No openings. Joined the Marines instead. On April 4, a day after his 20th birthday, he arrived at Boot camp at Paris Island, South Carolina. Then to Great Lakes Navy Base in Chicago, Illinois for school. Here he met his future wife at the State Fair in Wisconsin. Then to San Diego to school and onto the Third Marine Division in Japan. While there he was stationed at Camp Giffre and Camp Yokusuko Naval Bases. When he was in Okinawa he was stationed at Camp Tangen, Camp Nupunja and Camp McGill. Lastly at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

On April 6,1957 he married Dorothy Ann Hoffman. After he was discharged on April 8,1958, he and Dorothy moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

He worked for the United States Post Office and went to school at Milwaukee School of Engineering. After graduation he got a job at Giddings and Lewis in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin as an Electrical Engineer. Moved to Fond du Lac. Had his first house built in 1965. Then in 1976 moved his family to St. Cloud where he had purchased his dream property and had their home built. After he retired from Giddings and Lewis and enjoyed making maple syrup, gardening, camping, woodworking and his Family. One of his favorite things to do was to go out into the woods on his tractor with his chainsaw.

Murray is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Dorothy Fry. 5 children, Rosie Herbert, Renee (George) Posthuma, Mark (Cheri) Fry, Regina Fry and Michael Fry. 5 grandchildren, Cassie Fry, Alisha (Kory) Friedel, Travis (Steph) Fry, Taylor Fry and Dirk Posthuma. 10 great grandchildren. One brother Bill (Karen) Fry. Brother-in-law Terry Hoffman and 4 sisters-in-law Debbie Hoffman, Patricia Pope, Charlotte Hoffman and Maria Fry.

In addition to his parents, Murray was preceded in death by three sisters, Viola, Betty, and Barbara. One brother Jack and one son-in-law Kevin. Also, in-laws Henry and Dorothy Hoffman, Brother-in-laws Hank Jr Hoffman, Dean Hoffman, Bob Hoffman, and Tony Majewski. Sister- in-laws Carol Majewski, Kathy Hoffman, and Shirley Hoffman.
