Myra M. (Schaefer) Diedrich, age 95, of New Holstein formerly of rural Malone "Garnet", passed away with her family at her side on Saturday, August 1, 2026.
She was born September 7, 1930, in Chilton to Claude Sr. & Sophia (Dekker) Schaefer. Myra attended St. Mary's Catholic Grade School in Chilton and graduated from Chilton High School in 1948.
On May 9, 1951, she married Leonard "Fritz" Diedrich at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chilton; Fritz preceded her in death on January 8, 2023.
Being a wife, mom, grandma, great-grandma, and homemaker was her first priority. In addition, she worked part time at various local businesses. She retired from Miller Mfg. in New Holstein.
She was a former member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Jericho and currently a member of Our Lady of the Holyland Parish-St. Mary Site in Marytown, a member of Catholic Knights and a former member of the Christian Women's Society in Jericho and former member of the Calumet County Homemakers.
Myra enjoyed tending to her vegetable garden, making plastic canvas crafts, playing a spirited game of cards (whether with her family or one of her many card clubs), traveling with her husband and spending time with her family; her face lit up whenever she saw her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her seven children, Joanne Diedrich, Nancy Stephanie, Tom (Chris) Diedrich, Sharon Diedrich, Ken (Sandy) Diedrich, Jan (Doug) Goebel, and Carol (Jef) Voelker; 13 grandchildren, Rob and Jamie Stephanie, Niki (Brant) Kraemer, Erin (Adam) Rolf, Mike (Dani) Diedrich, Matt Diedrich, Brian (Taylor) Diedrich, Melissa (Simon) Ziegelbauer, Chelsea (Dave) Burda, Ryan (Marcy) Goebel, Jake Voelker, Sam (Kayce) Voelker, and Aubrey (Nate Hannan) Voelker; 9 great-grandchildren, Avery Rolf, Evelyn Diedrich, Iven Rieder, Bennot Diedrich, Lucy and Harvey Burda, Leo Goebel, Finn and Sawyer Voelker. She is further survived by her brother, Claude Jr. (Sue) Schaefer; numerous nieces; nephews; friends.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Leonard "Fritz"; her parents, Claude Sr. & Sophia Schaefer; father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Bergetta (Preissner) Diedrich; her brothers and sisters, Mildred (Frank) Satzer, Margaret (Clarence) Propson, Don (Terry) Schaefer, Earl Schaefer, Cyril (Jackie) Schaefer, and Barb (John) Steenport; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Rose (Ray) Ecker, Hugo Diedrich, Leo (Rosine) Diedrich, Monica (Hilary) Ecker, Nicholas "Jake" (Edah) Diedrich, Bill (Ginny) Diedrich, Mary (Steve) Amel, Bob (Arlene and Bernice) Diedrich, and Dorothy (Howard) Rather; her son-in-law, Bob Stephanie; and daughter-in-law, Barb Gorman.
A Liturgy Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Our Lady of the Holyland Parish-St. Mary's Site in Marytown (N10232 County Road G, New Holstein, WI 53061). Rev. Larry Abler, OFM Cap will officiate. Private burial will take place in Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery in Jericho.
Visitation: Family and friends may visit with Myra's family on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at the Sippel Funeral Home in New Holstein (2618 Altona Ave, New Holstein, WI 53061) from 3:30 PM until 7:00 PM. Visitation will also be at the church in Marytown Wednesday morning, August 5th from 9:30 AM until 10:15 AM.
Myra's family expresses their sincere appreciation to the New Holstein First Responders and the staff members at Calumet Medical Center, Calumet County Hospice, and Lakehouse Assisted Living.
