Myra J. Durkee, age 66, of Brillion West Haven, formerly of 21827 Taus Rd., Brillion, died Sunday morning, May 23, 2010 at West Haven Residence following a long and courageous battle against Picks Disease. She was born May 7, 1944 in the town of Franklin, daughter of Elroy Fischer and the late Gertrude (Hagenow) Fischer. Myra graduated from Brillion High School in 1962 and continued her education at Fox Valley Business School. After graduation from business school, she became an employee of the school. On June 27, 1964 she married Gerald Durkee at Potter, WI. After their marriage they moved to Fairbanks, Alaska. There Myra worked for the Fairbanks School District. Gerald was then transferred to Fort Sheridan, IL where Myra worked for Import Motors of Chicago while Gerald was deployed to Viet Nam. After his tour of duty they moved to Brillion and started their family. She later worked for OConnor Pharmacy in Brillion for over 17 years. Survivors include her husband Gerald, a daughter Maureen (Ted) Gebhard of Neenah, her father Elroy Fischer of Brillion, three sisters Debbie (Charlie) Rehrauer of Newton, Gail (John) Schanilec of Mishicot, Charlene (Steve) Dresang of Manitowoc, two brothers Elroy, Jr. (Gloria) Fischer of Augusta, South Carolina, Bruce (Jeanie) Fischer of Hilbert, her mother-in-law Ann Durkee of Reedsville, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Fran (Dick) Durkee of Reedsville, Marge (Dennis) Vedder of Delafield and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a daughter Beth, her mother Gertrude and an aunt Lucille Hagenow. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 26 at 7:00 p.m. at Peace United Church of Christ, 489 S. Glenview Ave., Brillion. The Rev. Kris Borns will officiate. Burial will be in Knollwood Gardens Cemetery, Manitowoc.
