Nelson D. Teinert, Sr.

Nelson D. Teinert, Sr., age 69, of Hilbert, passed away Tuesday evening, April 4, 2023 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton.

Nelson was born on June 11, 1953 in Austin, TX., son of the late Reinhold and Irene (Spatz) Teinert. He was a graduate of Lanier High School in Austin, TX. After high school, Nelson worked as a general contractor in Austin. On July 2, 1983 he married the former Bonnie J. Stenklyft at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hilbert. Nelson was employed with Brillion Pattern and Machine and later for Destination Driving, where he enjoyed teaching high school students how to drive. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hilbert and served as a former trustee for the church. Nelson enjoyed hunting in his younger years and especially loved fishing with family and friends. He was a craftsman, who liked to build things for others such as a BBQ pit for his former church in Texas and a changing table for his children. Nelson enjoyed going for drives on nice days and taking trips to Texas to see his family. In his downtime, he liked to do sudoku and word searches. Above all else, he loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife: Bonnie Teinert; their children: Cara (Matt) Newman, Nelson (Jessica) Teinert, Jr.; his grandchildren: Tyler Newman; Arlo and Gavin Teinert; his siblings: Carl (Claudia) Teinert, Arlene Wendt; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Lois (Bill) McNiesh, Terry (Joann) Stenklyft, Delores (Dan) Lorenz, Rick (Joan) Stenklyft, Ken (Vicki) Stenklyft. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Ted and Alice (Plate) Stenklyft.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hilbert. Officiating at the service will be Rev. Mark Peterson with burial to follow at St. Peter Lutheran Church Cemetery.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hilbert from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated in Nelson’s name to the Hilbert/Potter First Responders or to Green Bay Trinity Lutheran School.
