Nicholas P. Walsdorf, age 79, of rural New Holstein, passed away Thursday, March 16, 2023, at Ascension Calumet Hospital in Chilton.

He was born July 27, 1943, in the Town of New Holstein to Vincent & Loretta (Nett) Walsdorf. He attended St. Anna Catholic Grade School and Kiel High School.

On November 24, 1964, he married Hazel Hutchison at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein.

Nick worked at the former Tecumseh Engine Products in New Holstein trouble shooting machines that would malfunction for 46 years until the company closed the New Holstein operations.

Nick enjoyed tinkering on engines of all types. He also liked building bird feeders, bird houses, and wishing wells. He was very meticulous in his work, right down to making the roofs of the bird houses with actual asphalt shingles cut to scale. He would never cut corners.

Nick is survived by his wife, Hazel; his five children, Debra (Jeff) Teidt, Randy Walsdorf, Sandra Hartman, Terry (Shelly) Walsdorf, and Brad Walsdorf; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; his brother, Edward (Judy) Walsdorf; his sister, Carol (Edgar) Salm; his sisters-in-law, Florence ''Flossie'' Walsdorf and Lillian Enz; his brothers-in-law, Francis Keuler and Marion (Cathy) Hutchison; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends.

He was preceded by his parents; three sisters, Audrey Keuler, Rosemary (Richard) Gorby, and Dorothy (Leroy) Schad; his brother, Charlie Walsdorf. He is further preceded in death of in-laws of Hazel.

Cremation will take place. There will be no services held.
