Norma M. Smith, of New Holstein, passed away with the loving care from her close friends on Thursday, May 23, 2013.
She was born July 16, 1917, in Hillsdale, MI to the late Orlin & Anna (Robbins) Convis.
Norma graduated from Hillsdale High School in 1935. Later she was employed at Hillsdale Hospital in the Admission Department.
On October 14, 1946 she was united in marriage to Charles E. Smith. They lived in Michigan, Illinois, and Ohio before settling in New Holstein. All moves were made by the Tecumseh Products Company.
Norma lived an interesting life. She was a licensed airplane pilot and with her pilot husband they saw a lot of the U.S. and southern Canada from the air in their various planes.
After the death of her husband in 1975, Norma gave up flying and changed to sports. Baseball, football, and race cars were her favorites.
Norma is survived by a nephew, Harold (Janice) Convis of St. Clair, MI.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Helen Convis; and a brother, Paul Convis.
At Norma's request a cremation will take place and there will be no services. Burial will be with her husband in Allen, MI. at a later date.
