Norman E. Fritz, 85, of St. Cloud, died unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, May 12, 2011. He was born March 2, 1926 in Wautoma to the late Oscar & Emma (Schultz) Fritz. Norman served in the Army from May 1952 to February 1954. He attained the rank of Sergeant. On October 20, 1951, he married the former Ione Meyer at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Cascade. Ione preceded him in death on March 23, 2008. Norman and his wife farmed in the Town of New Holstein near St. Anna from 1960 to 1975. They moved to St. Cloud in 1975. In addition to farming, Norman also worked at Kohler Co. for 41 years. He retired in 1991 but continued to work for the Kohler Co. at Black Wolf Run Golf Course as a Ranger. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Kiel, a member of the St. Cloud American Legion Harvey Blonigen Post 478, the Winnebago East Shore Lions Club, the Improved Order of the Redmen Tribe of St. Anna where he also served as their treasurer, and a member of the Kohler Co. Quarter Century Club. He was a former member of the St. Anna Volunteer Fire Department. Norman enjoyed playing cards and loved to golf. Norman is survived by his three children, Peggy (Steve) DeMunck of Greenbush, Mark (Mary) Fritz of St. Cloud, and Roseann (David) Birr of Mayville; six grandchildren, Allan (Jenny) DeMunck, Raymond DeMunck and his fiancé, Rebecca Eder, Michelle Fritz and her fiancé, Ryan Waldinger, Matthew (Shannon) Fritz, Staff Sergeant Eric (Becky) Birr, and Specialist Anthony Birr and his special friend, Anna Ehrke; four great-grandchildren, Ethan & Aiden DeMunck and Gavin & Madison Birr; his two brothers, Harold (Loretta) Fritz and Lyle (Marie) Fritz both of Wautoma; his sisters-in-law, Helen Fritz of Wautoma, Delores (Joe) Tracy of School Hill, Arlene Lind of Ripon, Donna Mae Cotter of Bonduel, Doris (Jerry) Reiss of Crivitz and Betty Meyer of Sheboygan Falls; and his brother-in-law, Edward (Mary Ann) Meyer of Brandon. Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Ione; a brother, Arnold Fritz, a sister, Irma (Dorm) Runnels and his in-laws, Donald Meyer, Eugene (Donna Mae) Meyer, Dorothy (Elmer) Ten Pas, Junior Lind, and Russell Cotter. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, May 16, 2011 At Trinity Lutheran Church 387 Cemetery Road in Kiel, WI. Rev. Jeremy Cares will officiate. Burial with Military Rites conducted by the St. Cloud American Legion Harvey Blonigen Post 478 will be in the Greenbush Cemetery in the Town of Greenbush. Family and friends may call at the Sippel Funeral Home 1311 Thorp Street in St. Cloud on Sunday, May 15th from 3:00-7:00 PM and at Trinity Lutheran Church Monday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of services. The Harvey Blonigen Post 478 will conduct brief services at the funeral home Sunday afternoon at 4:00 PM. A memorial fund will be established in his name.
