Norman L. Ott

December 7, 1943 — March 10, 2024

Norman L. Ott, age 80, of Brillion, passed away peacefully on March 10. He was born on December 7, 1943, to the late Donald and Lucille (Zick) Ott. He graduated from Brillion High School in 1962, Platteville State University in 1967 and later received his master's degree from Viterbo University. On June 18, 1966, he married Nancy Peik. He taught agriculture and junior high science for 35 years at Brillion Public Schools. He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Brillion.
Norm enjoyed traveling, reading, playing cards, woodcarving, and making stained glass projects. He had fond memories of spending time at the cottage and fishing with his son in Canada for many, many years.
In addition to his professional achievements and dedication to his family, Norm will be fondly remembered for his warm smile, sense of humor, and the positive impact he made on the lives of hundreds of students and fellow teachers.
Family was at the core of Norm's life. Norm is survived by his wife, Nancy, after 57 years of marriage; children Jeffrey (Shirley) Ott of Crivitz, Carrie (Scott) Penovich of Appleton, and Jennifer (Brent) Wilson of Lake Geneva. Norm is survived by grandchildren Hayden, Brecken, and Karsen Ott, step-grandson Alec (Samantha) Garcia, Tyler and Lexi Penovich, Chase, Elliana, and Lillyan Wilson and step-grandchildren Tyler and Sydney Wilson. He is further survived by brothers David Ott, Joel (Betty) Ott, and Scott (Annie) Ott, and sisters Julie (Jerome) Bastian, Kristie Cournoyer, Kaye (William) Wynen, Mary (Tom) Brouillard; sister-in-law Deloris Behnke; many nieces and nephews as well as other relatives and friends. Norm was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers-in-law Kent Cournoyer and Wilmer Behnke.
There will be a celebration of life at Faith United Methodist Church, 204 Horn Street, Brillion on March 16. Family and friends may visit from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church, followed by the service. Burial will take place at Brillion Community Cemetery.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of Brillion West Haven and Heartland Hospice for the wonderful care given to Norm.
