Patricia "Pat" C. Tushaus, age 78, of rural Glenbeulah (Town of Greenbush), passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Thursday, January 22, 2015, following a short battle with cancer.
The former Patricia Kowalczyk was born March 15, 1936, to the late Frank & Anna (Makowski) Kowalczyk.
Pat attended St. Mathias Grade School and graduated from West Milwaukee High School with the class of 1954.
On August 25, 1956, she married Kenneth Tushaus at St. Mathias Church in Milwaukee.
She was a member of St. Isidore Parish-St. Cloud Church. Pat was a former member of the Mequon-Thiensville Business Association and the Mequon-Thiensville Chamber of Commerce. She also had served on the Board of Directors at MATC for Interior Design.
In addition to a life-time of volunteer service work, Pat & Ken were the founders & facilitators of a reading program for inner city children at Messmer Catholic Schools for nearly two decades. The program paved the way for hundreds of children to attend colleges and universities around the nation.
Pat is survived by her husband, Kenneth; her children, Daniel (Colleen) Tushaus of Brookfield, Jeffrey (Debara) Tushaus of Green Bay, Mark (Kathleen) Tushaus of Brookfield, Anthony (Kathryn) Tushaus of Plymouth, Br. Bob Smith of Milwaukee, and Al (Elena) Montilla of Florida; nine grandchildren, Katherine (Chris) Steffe, Abigail Tushaus, Analiese Tushaus, Lauren (David) Revers, Mathias Tushaus, Benjamin Tushaus, Tommy Tushaus, Christian Tushaus, and Ania Tushaus; her great-grandson, Nathaniel; many foster children; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding Pat in death were her parents, Frank & Anna Kowalczyk and her sister, Delphine Meurer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 5:30 PM on Monday, January 26, 2015, at St. Isidore Parish-St. Cloud Church, 924 Main Street St. Cloud, Wisconsin 53079. Rev. Oliver Bambenek OFM Cap will officiate. Private inurnment will take place at a later date in the parish cemetery.
Visitation: Family and friends may call at the church in St. Cloud on Monday, January 26th from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
A Memorial Fund will be established in her name.
