Paul G. Poirier, age 65, of rural New Holstein, formerly of Elkhart "Elkark" Lake, ascended into God's loving arms Wednesday, December 5, 2018, following a courageous year-long battle with brain cancer. Paul was at his home with his devoted family by his side. Born in upstate New York (Malone) to Doris (Perry) Gandloph and the late Paul E. Poirier, this small-town boy grew up to travel the world. Through his honorable service in the United States Navy from 1972 to 1975 and later with forty years at Curt G. Joa, Paul made friends and shared laughs on six different continents. In 1990 Paul finally found his "Love of a Lifetime" and on May 1, 1993, he married Jodi Messner at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. They shared 25 magnificent years with family, friends, laughter and a lifetime of hugs and hand holding! He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls. Paul was an avid softball player and enjoyed hunting, camping, spending time with his grandchildren and most of all just being at home. He was a loyal Packer fan and loved a good Packer party with some beers and cheers. Paul is survived by his devoted wife, Jodi "Tootsie"; his three children, his son, Travis (Ashley Konen) Pfister and their children, Ivy & Sawyer, his daughter, Brooke (Joseph) Guinta, his daughter, Tara (Daniel) Ramirez and their children, Ian, Kaleb, and Quinn; his mother, Doris Gandloph; his brothers and sisters, Linda (Ralph) Hodge, Rene (Therese) Poirier, Theresa (Yvon) Campeau, Francis Poirier, Simonne (John) Durant, Nancy (Kurt) Nusbaum, Anita (Kevin) Grover, Raymond Poirier, Dennis (Melissa) Poirier, Jerome (Sheila) Poirier, Joseph Poirier; his sister-in-law Gail (Rick) Brack; his brothers-in-law, Scott (Cindy) Messner and Tracy (Amy) Messner; his step-daughter, Heather (Bob) Ybema. He is further survived by nieces; nephews, other relatives; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul E. Poirier; four infant siblings; Noella, Marie, Marcel and Jo Ellen Poirier; his father-in-law & mother-in-law, Douglas & Dolores Messner; and his four-legged friend, Duke. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 15, 2018, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 730 County Road PPP, Sheboygan Falls, WI 53085. Rev. Tom Gudmundson will preside. Visitation: Family and friends may visit with the family at the church on Saturday, December 15th from 11:00 AM until 1:30 PM. Military Rites conducted by Military Honors and the local Post will follow the services at the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in his name. With all my "Little Man" has been through, he always maintained a positive attitude and enjoyed life to its fullest.
