Paul C. Spletter, age 87, of New Holstein, passed away Sunday, November 30, 2014, at the Willowdale Nursing & Rehabilitaion Center in New Holstein.
He was born December 20, 1926, in New Holstein to the late Paul H. & Esther (Hintz). Paul attended New Holstein Elementary and Middle School. He graduated from New Holstein High School in 1944. Paul served in the United States Navy during World War II and during the Korean War.
On December 29, 1954, he married Mary Jo Greuel in Milwaukee.
Paul worked for Wisconsin Public Service until his retirement in 1988.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in New Holstein where he also taught Sunday school for many years. He served as president for the New Holstein Senior Citizen Center. Paul was a member of the New Holstein American Legion Post 124. He volunteered many hours of his time at the Salvatorian Center in New Holstein.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Jo; eight children, Michael Spletter, Richard Spletter, Stephen (Patricia) Spletter, Deborah (John) Moran, Gregory Spletter, Jenifer (Douglas) Achsel, Douglas (Lluvica) Spletter, and Suzanne (Garrett) Weber; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; his sisters, Doris Powell, Shirley Blade, Barbara (Ronald) Forstner, and Sandra (Edwin) Cunningham; his brothers, Donald Spletter, Elroy Spletter, and Lee (Cheri) Spletter. He is further survived by his in-laws, other relatives, and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Paul H. & Esther Spletter and his sisters, Marion (Robert) Bowe, Margery (James) Rozman, and Maryjane Spletter; in-laws, Madeline Spletter, Carol Spletter, Esther Spletter, Robert Powell, Darle Blade.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 6, 2014, at Zion Lutheran Church 1702 Van Buren Street New Holstein, WI 53061. Rev. Azor Cigelske will officiate. Burial with Military Rites conducted by the New Holstein American Legion Post 124, will be in Countryview Cemetery in the Town of New Holstein.
There will be no visitation prior to the service. Visitors may gather at the church just prior to the service beginning.
