Paul R. Wagner, 68, of Mount Calvary, passed away unexpectedly Friday, December 11, 2015, at his home.
He was born February 2, 1947, at St. Agnes Hospital to Benno Wagner and the late Bernice (Braun) Wagner.
He attended St. Joseph Grade School in St. Joe and graduated from St. Mary's Springs High School in 1965. Paul served in the Army during the Vietnam War from May 16, 1966 until May 15, 1968. On September 7, 1968, he married Kathy Stephanie at St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Joe.
Paul had worked as a meat cutter at the Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store in Fond du Lac and at Bremer Mfg. in St. Anna.
He was a member of St. Isidore Parish-Holy Cross Church in Mount Calvary and Mount Calvary Abler-Engel American Legion Post 454. He was a retired member of the Mount Calvary Volunteer Fire Department where he served for 30+ years and had also served on the Mount Calvary Ambulance Service.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy; six children, Tim (Angie) Wagner of Franksville, Vicky (Dave) Priganc of Richmond, VT, Rick (Nicki) Wagner of Evansville, Scot (Julie) Wagner of Cottage Grove, Amy (Eric) Clark of Brownsville and Heidi Wagner of Fond du Lac; six grandchildren, Owen Wagner, Ali & Carl Priganc, Wyatt Clark and Augie & Jack Wagner; his father, Benno (Florence) Wagner of Fond du Lac; his brothers and sisters, Joe "Smoky" Wagner of St. Cloud, Dan "Frisco" (Betty) Wagner of St. Cloud, Bette (Randy) Backhaus of Oakfield, Gary (Jan) Wagner of St. Joe, Joan Wagner of Wausau, Larry Wagner of Fond du Lac, Tom (Mary) Wagner of Oshkosh and Randy "Bronson" Wagner of St. Cloud; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Lydia (Ken) Turba of St. Anna, Dave Winkler of St. Cloud, Lester (Peggy) Stephanie of Abbottsford, Julie (Dick) Ruffing of New Holstein, Valeria (Larry) Kempf of St. Anna and Ann (Art) Hage of Mount Horeb. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Preceding him in death were his mother, Bernice Wagner; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Norbert & Angela Stephanie; brother-in-law, Stan Stephanie and two sisters-in-law, Betty Stephanie and Adeline Winkler.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, December 16, 2015, at St. Isidore Parish-Holy Cross Church, 308 County Road W Mount Calvary, WI 53057. Rev Gary Wegner, OFM Cap will officiate. Military Rites conducted by the Abler-Engel Post 454 and Military Honors will take place at the church following the Mass.
Visitation: Family and friends may call at the Sippel Funeral Home, 1311 Thorp Street St. Cloud, WI 53079 on Tuesday, December 15th from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM and again at the funeral home Wednesday morning from 8:30 AM until 9:45 AM when brief rites will be held.
A Prayer Service will be held at the funeral home Tuesday evening at 8:00 PM.
