Peter “Sarge” R. Binder, age 73, of Brillion, passed away on Friday, August 19, 2016 at Bellin Medical Center in Green Bay surrounded by his family.
Pete was born on August 31, 1942 in Sheboygan, son of the late Raymond and Florence (Wakefield) Binder. He was a graduate of Port Washington High School. Pete enlisted and served our country in the United States Army from 1964 until his retirement as Sergeant 1st Class in 1984. Pete married Renee Grube at the First Congregationalist Church in Sheboygan on September 17, 1966. The couple would have celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary this year. Pete enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing, reading and watching westerns, fixing anything that needed to be done, and spending time with his family. He was a very active, lifetime member of the Sheboygan VFW Post 9156 and did many things to support the post. When his daughter Becky was in the “Accents” Drill and Color Guard, he was right there as the bus driver and mechanic. He was also a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Brillion.
Pete is survived by his wife Renee; their two daughters and two sons-in-law: Tina (Kevin) TeStroete and Becky (John) Joppich all of Brillion; six grandchildren: Amanda, Elizabeth, Tiffany Alvin, Ashley, and Brett ; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister: Lonnie Braden of Brillion; two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law: Pat Lubbers and Penny (Jack) Schaap all of Sheboygan; 19 nieces and nephews; one Chinese daughter: Therese Binder-Liu; other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother: Geoffrey, a brother who died in Vietnam, Paul, his father-in-law and mother-in-law: August and Ida (Richter) Grube, four brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law: Gerald Braden, Duwane (Alyda) Grube, Sharon (John) Strak, and John Lubbers, and other relatives.
Funeral Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at Wieting Funeral Home, 215 S. Main St. in Brillion. Officiating at the service will be Rev. Susan Safford-Gahl. Peter will be laid to rest at King Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. until 6:45 p.m.

Pete was a beloved husband, Dad, Grandpa, Great-Grandpa, Brother, Uncle, and Friend. Pete has requested that people not wear black at his funeral.
