Obituary

Phyllis V. Schneider, age 69, of New Holstein, passed away peacefully following a battle with pancreatic cancer on Monday, September 26, 2016, at the Sharon S. Richardson Hospice in Sheboygan Falls. She was born May 1, 1947, to the late Norbert H. & Laynilda "Nellie" A. (Schmitz) Ehlenbeck. Phyllis attended and graduated from Holy Rosary Catholic Grade School and New Holstein High School. On October 7, 1967, she married Charles R. Schneider at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein. Phyllis had worked at M&I Bank and Tecumseh Engine Products prior to her and her husband operating Schneider Jewelry & TV in New Holstein. In her later working career, she managed the Express Video in New Holstein and worked in the gift shop at the Osthoff in Elkhart Lake. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein. Phyllis was an initial organizer of New Holstein's Cow Fest which began in 2003. Phyllis was the most dedicated supporter of her grandchildren's athletic and school functions. She enjoyed her morning walks, tending to her garden and house plants and family get a ways. Survivors include her husband, Charles; her four children, Melissa A. Schneider and Robert Posthuma of New Holstein, Lori R. (William) Hess of New Holstein, Corey J. Schneider of Milwaukee and Carrie L. (David) Mathy of Neenah; six grandchildren, Kimberly Hephner, Olivia Hephner, Aryn Hess, Brooke (Anthony) Bateman, Lauren Hess and Robert Hess; four great-grandchildren, Caden, Sophie, Charlotte and Ophelia; her three brothers, Lester Ehlenbeck of New Holstein, David (Deborah) Ehlenbeck of New Holstein and James (Judy) Ehlenbeck of New Holstein; her brothers-in-law, James H. (Susan) Schneider of New Holstein, Stephen J. Schneider of New Holstein, Craig W. (Lois) Schneider of Fond du Lac and Scott J. (Sherry) Schneider of Elkhart Lake. Phyllis is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Preceding Phyllis in death were her parents, Norbert & Laynilda "Nellie" Ehlenbeck and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Nicholas A. & Rita M. Schneider. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 3, 2016, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 1724 Madison Street New Holstein, WI 53061. Rev. Pat Nelson will officiate with Deacon Pat Knier assisting. Visitation: Family and friends may call at the Sippel Funeral Home, 2618 Altona Avenue New Holstein, WI 53061 on Sunday, October 2, 2016 from 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM. Visitation will also be at the funeral home Monday morning, October 3rd from 9:00 AM -10:30 AM when brief rites will be held. A Memorial Fund will be established in Phyllis' name.
