Obituary

Rachel Jane Howsare, age 72, died Sunday, August 12, 2012 in Augusta County, Virginia. Mrs. Howsare was born October 31, 1939 in Chilton, Wisconsin, daughter of the late Leo and Cyrilla (Cain) Zorn. She attended St. Anna Catholic grade school and graduated from Kiel School in 1957. She attended Sheboygan Teachers College from 1957-1959. She served in the United State Navy as a Hospital Corps Wave from 1959-1963 and was voted Wave of the Year in 1963. Rachel worked at St. Lukes and Roosevelt hospitals in Manhatten, New York from 1963-1986. She worked most recently at Augusta Medical Center in Augusta County, Virginia. On May 27, 1989 she married David Howsare in Staunton, Virginia. The couple resided in Augusta County, Virginia after their marriage. Rachel enjoyed her many travels throughout the world including Hawaii, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, and Mexico as well as traveling the United States. Survivors include her husband, David Howsare; mother in-law, Edna Howsare of Bedford, Pa.; brothers-in-law, Dan (Joan) Howsare and Phil Howsare of Bedford, Pa.; sisters-in-law, Barbara (Keith) Frederick of New York, Dorthy A. Kuhn of Virginia, and April Howsare of Bedford, Pa.; and many nieces and nephews, including Michael Zorn of Sheboygan, Jeff Zorn of Kiel, Tim Zorn of Elkhart Lake, Jacci O'Dwanny of Sheboygan Falls, Jennifer Michaels of Elkhart Lake, and Pat Zorn of Elkhart Lake. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Charles Zorn; and by her father-in-law, Fred Howsare. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Monday, August 20, 2012 at St. Anna Catholic Church, N188 School Street New Holstein, WI. Rev. Loren Nys SDS will officiate with Deacon, Pat Knier assisting. Burial will be in the church cemetery. There will be a luncheon in the church social hall following the burial.
