Raymond L. Carlson, age 84, of Appleton, passed away peacefully early Monday, September 28, 2026 at Peabody Manor.

Raymond was born on April 8, 1942 in Janesville, Wisconsin, son of the late George & Evelyn (Giessel) Carlson.

He was a graduate of Fort Atkinson High School, class of 1960. Raymond went on to further his education at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, earning his Bachelors Degree in Business. After college, he served our country in the United States Army. Upon his return from the military, he met Mary Born in the office at the Department of Revenue in Madison, WI. They first became friends, and then they started dating. Raymond & Mary were married on October 18, 1969. He worked in various other offices over the years including Lesson in Grafton and retiring from Bemis in Kohler. Raymond and Mary have one son, Erik, and they traveled the country together. They had a goal of having Erik walk in all 48 continental United States, and they succeeded! And they truly enjoyed traveling together.

Raymond is survived by his wife, Mary of Appleton; their son, Erik of Appleton; two brothers: David and Norman Carlson; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Donald “Animal” & Rosemary Born, Edward & Deb Born, and Willard Born; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Elmer & Margaret Born, Sr.; one brother: Richard Carlson; sister-in-law: Alena Carlson; and two brothers-in-law: Elmer Jr. and Eric Born.

Per Raymond’s wishes, no formal services are going to be held.
