Raymond B. Schmitz
Raymond B. Schmitz, age 92, formerly of Marytown, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at the Homestead Care Center in New Holstein, where he resided since October of 2011.
He was born February 11, 1921 to the late Joseph & Isabel (Faber) Schmitz.
Ray served in the Army Air Corps during World War ll.
He worked for the former Leverenz Shoe Company until he retired.
Ray was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marytown, the Marytown Veterans Club, and the New Holstein American Legion Post 124. Ray enjoyed bowling, fishing, traveling with his good friend, Harlan, and growing gladiolas for church.
Survivors include his sister, Marjorie Schneider of Fond du Lac; his in-laws, Jerry Blonigen of St. Cloud, Christina Schmitz of Fond du Lac, Alma Schmitz of Mt. Calvary, and Walter Mand of New Holstein; special nephew, Walter & Ginger Freund of Marytown; special great niece, Shannon Kienbaum of Kiel.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his siblings and in-laws, Ruth & Sylvester Schmitz, Dorthey & Melvin Freund, Dolores Blonigen, Milton Dilling, Melvin Schmitz, John Schmitz, Janet Mand, Claude Schneider; two nephews, Donald Freund and Ronald Schmitz; his very good friend Harlan Christel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 6:00 PM on Monday, July 29, 2013 at St. Mary's Catholic Church N10232 Country Road G New Holstein, WI 53061 "Marytown". Rev. Joseph Coerber will officiate.
Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Family and friends may call at the Church on Monday from 4:00-5:45 PM. Military Rites will be conducted by the New Holstein American Legion Post 124 following the service.
