To have the Sacred Heart of Jesus be your Best Friend.
Regina H. Davis, age 96, formerly of Chilton, died peacefully at her home on Friday, October 2, 2026 at St. Francis Terrace in Fond du Lac, where she has resided for the past five years.
Regina was born on March 2, 1930 in Portage,WI daughter of the late Albert and Anna (Thielen) Tritz. She treasured and often reminisced about her life being raised on a farm with her ten siblings. Regina graduated from Portage High School in 1948, eventually moved to Milwaukee, and married Melvin K. Davis at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Portage on November 20th, 1954. Together they raised their family in Milwaukee, retiring in Chilton. Faith and Family were the most important things in Regina’s life. She loved and took much pride and commitment in singing for weddings, funerals and in church choirs, being a prayer warrior for the Legion of Mary, and enjoyed volunteering with Melvin at the Salvation Army. And let’s not forget all the babies she swooned to sleep singing her beautiful lullabies. As gentle and sweet a woman she was, Regina was also extremely brave and tough, beating breast cancer twice and enduring the loss of her youngest daughter. Regina and Melvin were always exceedingly generous to their communities and family.
When life quieted down for Regina, she enjoyed walking, handing out the best Halloween treats every year, playing cards with others, Bingo, Scrabble, and doing jigsaw puzzles. But if there was one aspect that anyone who knew her could attest to, it was her ability to pray. Regina prayed constantly and fervently… even subconsciously. The Rosary was probably her favorite way to pray. When asked what she would like her life message to be to others, she answered, “To have the Sacred Heart of Jesus be your Best Friend.” She remembers when she was 11 years old, her family was consecrated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
She is survived by her four children: Deborah (Alan) Elverson, William Davis, Denise Chojnacki (John “Him”), and Wendy Sell; son-in-law: Jim Lynch; 11 grandchildren: LeeAnn (Andrew) Westenmeyer, Christena (Jason) Snyder, Carl Elverson (Heather), Mark (Amanda) Chojnacki, Krystal Chojnacki (Armand), Colleen Chojnacki (Rich), Megan (Matt) Fritz, Kayla (Jesse) Pappenfuss, Nathan (Miriah) Sell, Abraham Sell (Sharon) and Augie Sell; 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Regina is further survived by a sister-in-law: Marlyn Perlberg, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Melvin, her daughter Suzanne Lynch, her parents, siblings, brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-laws.
The family will greet relatives and friends at the St. Francis Home Chapel from 1:00PM until 3:00PM. Funeral Services for Regina will be held at 3:00PM where there will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, October 8, 2026 at St. Francis Home Chapel (Enter at: St. Francis Terrace, 345 E. 1st St, Fond du Lac). Private Burial will take place at a later date, where Regina will be laid to rest next to her husband Melvin, near their daughter Suzanne, at Wisconsin Memorial Park, Brookfield.
A Memorial Fund will be established in Regina’s name.
The family would like to thank the incredibly caring staff at St. Francis Terrace as well as SSM Hospice for going above and beyond with the care they provided to their mother and her family. They would also like to extend a special thank to Fr. Adrien for his blessings and visits with mom during her end of life journey at St. Francis Terrace.
