Rev. Bernard Wagner, Capuchin friar, died on 15 March at the age of 90. He was born in 1930 in West Bend WI, the son of Philip and Sophia Wagner (nee Thoma). Bernard was invested with the Capuchin habit in 1955, and perpetually professed in 1959. He was ordained a priest in 1963. Bernard served in Nicaragua from 1969 to 1994, and retired in 2008. He is survived by his many Capuchin brothers with whom he lived, prayed and ministered for more than 60 years. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, Philip and Sophia Wagner; his siblings, Roman Wagner, Edward (Martha) Wagner, Rosemary (Gilbert) Gundrum, Marquerite (Sylvester) Scharrer, Florence (Robert) Dymale, Fr. Vernon Wagner OFM Cap., and Sr. Helen Wagner. He is further preceded by other relatives and friends. The Funeral Liturgy for Rev. Wagner will take place at 2:00 PM on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at St. Isidore the Farmer-Holy Cross Church, 308 County Highway W Mount Calvary, WI 53057.
