Obituary

Richard Arthur Wendland, 87, of rural New Holstein ''St. Anna'', was called back home to God, surrounded by his family, on December 15, 2023, at Willowdale Health Services. He was born on October 14, 1936, in Adell, Wisconsin to Edward and Eleanor (Gerlach) Wendland. He was the second of seven children. He attended Elkhart Lake High School. After high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy at Quonset Point, Rhode Island.

On June 25, 1960, he married Noreen Alice Sebeck. Together they raised three daughters. Richard enjoyed his career and spending time with his family and his friends. His favorite thing was to be surrounded by people and hear them talk and laugh together. He touched everyone he met with his kindness and genuine curiosity towards life. He loved shaking dice and running the sports pools with his friends. Richard never met a stranger; he was truly interested in the details of people's lives. He was humble, and he was curious, and he loved people dearly.

Richard worked at Tecumseh for 42 years. During and after this time he also worked at Stell's Super Value in New Holstein and at Kwik Trip in Chilton where he unloaded the semis and visited with the truck drivers and the customers.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, his daughters Shannon (Paul) Noreika of Crandon; Shari (Gary) Holterman of New Holstein, and Carla (Brian ''Ozzy'') Koch of Hilbert; his four grandchildren, Eric (Chrissy) Noreika, Kurt (Elissa) Noreika, and Aaron (Theresa) Holterman and Alyssa (Elias) Holterman Rosas; great-grandchildren Marina, Carsten, Jadynn, Jace, Kinsley, Naomi, and Liliana; his brother James Wendland; a sister-in-law, Jeanette Wendland; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Eugene, Keith ''Casey'', and Douglas Wendland; sisters Marilyn Scharinger and Nancy Sebeck; brothers-in-law David Scharinger and Norbert Sebeck; sisters-in-law Marianne Wendland and Donna Wendland; nephews, Mark Wendland, Roger Wendland, and Tim Sebeck, and many friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 6:00 PM on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at the Sippel Funeral Home, 2618 Altona Avenue, New Holstein, WI 53061. Burial will take place at Fernwood Cemetery in Gladstone, Michigan at a later date.
